Went out today, and sekrit project progression!

I spent last night getting the webhosting space and setting up my sekrit project. Man... it made me wish Drupal had better theming capabilities, cause wow... I am really pleased with the layout of that site. I shouldn't be waving around "loooooky i have a secret project!" when no one will even see it, but it still excites me 'cause I'm satisfied with the work, and I LOVE working on webstuff.

Speaking of not so secret projects, I am beginning to be tempted by making money through a reseller hosting account... like, not a LOT of money, but more like an experiment. I mean, nowadays reseller accounts start as low as $6/mo. I could get something pretty decent at $10/mo. All I'd really want is to see what I can do with it -- whether I can come up with a concept for low-cost (I'm talking, like, $2-3 a month) web accounts, likely paid through Paypal, that would at the *least* repay the cost of the reseller account -- and if more, it could even pay for my DR / PSU accounts, and my darksiren.net account. That would be sweet. :O

Oooh, but even BETTER news: I ordered my new computer! Finally!!

My upcoming birthday haul (hopefully) ^^;

Games:
- Mana Khemia (PS2)
- Baroque (PS2)
- The World Ends With You (DS)

Music:
- Diamanda Galas, Guilty Guilty Guilty
- Portishead, Third (Ltd. Edition Boxed Set)
- Thrice, The Alchemy Index Vols I & II

Any cash I get will contribute to my computer upgrade, which *hopefully* I will be able to pay. Apparently my inlaws want to help with it, too, since they didn't know what else to give me for my birthday. Well, that works. I need all the money I can get! n.n

Also, I MAY get a Hosting Matters account as a treat to myself. Most likely the B500 package, which is $8 a month or $24 quarterly.

Details on the games/music/other stuff:

Bad insomnia! (+ FINALLY figured out Thunderbird issue.)

Grraaah, bad time to not be sleeping. Come on... get off chair... go to bed. *sigh* I'll only get 5 hours at this rate.

I did want to write a reminder to myself because I finally figured out what was wrong with my install of Mozilla Thunderbird. No matter what I did, I couldn't upgrade or install a new version over my current one, without completely uninstalling the old one first. I kept getting some sort of file sharing error because some other program was mysteriously using a Thunderbird DLL.

It turned out to be Quickcam.exe... an executable that works with my Logitech webcam / mic combo, the one my sis bought me a while back. I found it out through this helpful link. All I had to do was go into the Windows Task Manager and end the Quickcam.exe process, and my Thunderbird install upgraded perfectly. Awesome! I've had this issue for MONTHS and had no idea it had to do with the webcam.

I've been writing some emails/replies, too... sent something off to Wally to help her with chargen (hopefully) and replied to an interesting comment I got on an old entry. Both of those put me in a better mood than before. Now if only I would *sleep*!

Oops... also, something cute.

I spilled water on my keyboard, that was pretty lame! I think it's working ok now, but it scared me for a bit!

Earlier, Jon went to the internet center next door to print out our latest batch of immigration documents (yeah, we have a printer, but can we afford more ink... nope! :P) and he surprised me by logging into AIM and messaging me. It was cute. :D

It reminded us a lot of the old days, like, when we were still in a long distance relationship and couldn't actually see what each other was typing just by looking at the other's screen. It made me think of all the things that attracted me to him when I fell in love with him online.

I also said later on that I think I'll really enjoy it when I'm in college and get to send him random messages between classes on my cellphone or laptop. Not that I have either yet, but I will when I'm attending Concordia. Hopefully I will be. n.n

Another, happier note.

Seems like my attempts to look for Exalted players may pay off... I hope. I got a reply from a person I'd contacted a little while back and it turns out she missed my PM. So far she seems pretty cool... I hope it works out this time. I shouldn't get too excited, but this actually made me smile!

She knows a different set of gamers from those I've played so far, so maybe I will meet more through her... maybe? I am not sure yet. :O

Even better, she offered to run, not play. And she is good with Ex2 so that'll help me get familiar with it.

I wish I could afford to buy the other Ex2 books right now. ^^; But I will have to live with PDFs for a while until I save up the money for my computer parts. I want my upgrade really bad, but I don't want it bad enough to use my parents' credit card. It's like selling my soul to the devil a little bit at a time when I use it. Tempting, but in the long run, I regret the chains of obligation it puts on me. Never again.

Now to see if I'll get to play PSU... but probably not tonight. :(
