PSU for PC/PS2 is closing down March 31.

For 3 or 4 years now I've been playing Phantasy Star Universe every Friday and Saturday night (or most nights, anyway) with Clark, Jim and my hubby. Sometimes my sis joined in too. It was something we could look forward to doing every weekend... a constant in life.

By the end of 2009 I'd gotten my main character, Reina Hidalgo, very close to the level cap (160, or is it higher now, not sure). I maxed her levels in 6 classes: Fighgunner (still my favorite ever), Guntecher (my 2nd favorite, yay for bows!), Fortegunner, Fortefighter, Protranser (EX traps rule) and Acrofighter. I'm very close to maxing Gunmaster and was determined to start on Fighmaster next, the melee weapon equivalent to the Gunmaster class, more or less. (Spear is one of their favored weapons... I love spears!)

But now it's all going to be gone at the end of March. :( We knew this would happen, the PC/PS2 servers have such loooowww activity compared to Xbox servers. But it's sad to see. All those hours of play (over 1000), yet even if I did get an Xbox I wouldn't be able to transfer all those levels over.

Sims 3, PSU... and some introspection.

I'm playing Sims 3 right now, and I have been for 3 days (barred other immediate things needing doing). I'm going on a Sims marathon through the weekend! The game is just that good. [Edit: I forgot to mention, but I'm also taking a RPoL break right now. Partially so I can play more Sims 3 but mostly because I really, really feel burned out creatively.]

I want to write a more extensive review, but I'm still exploring all the options right now. I will say this: I didn't expect the game to improve as much as it did from the last version. This is really THE definitive Sims game, and it addresses a lot of things that made the previous game tedious or slow (both gameplay wise and loading time wise.) It also lets you manage your game content so much better! I can't believe how quickly the game loads and how convenient it is to play. I have PLENTY more to rave about later. :)

Yesterday and today (outings, video game ramble)

Yesterday (besides FINALLY! finishing a hueg load of RPoL updates I had to do -- I really need a break from it) I went out a bit. Seriously, I hadn't been out for almost 2 weeks I think. :/ So it was good to.

It's getting sunnier outside. It's still pretty cold, but it's not snowing much. I don't know if it's 'cause we're in Montreal (where it's a bit warmer/more humid) or just 'cause we aren't having a record-breaking winter like last year (WTF that was terrible! 500+cm of snow that season!)

Here I ramble more about Friday (and today's plans).

FFXIII! And some PSU ramble.

(Focusing on non-immigration things is probably good for my mental health right now, so here we go!)

I am actually looking forward to Final Fantasy XIII now. For many reasons, but I think the one pleasing me most right now is that the main character is a totally badass woman. Also, the game is rather sci-fi-ish and military oriented... yeah, that'll make one think "like FF8!?!?" but... no. Not really like FF8 at all. :O

Also I have to find out more about that blond guy with the headscarf in the trailer I watched. Whut, he totally looks like some sort of mix of Shirai and Iluun. Hee~! *fangirls a bit* I was telling Jon I can totally appreciate the main char (whose code name is apparently Lightning) for being a fighgunner. :D Though technically what she wields is some sort of gunblade--except it switches between being a gun or a blade, it isn't both at once. Or something.

Wild Arms 3, PSU, and procrastination abounds!

Yesterday I got in this mood to try Wild Arms 3 for some reason. Well, it was just sitting there still shrinkwrapped... I'd gotten it for 15 bucks during the holidays. So I cleared some space on my mem card and tried it out. Dated graphics, but the gameplay's fun, the setting interesting, and there's also the utter hawtness of Clive, which distracted me for several hours! :D :D

OMG, Clive. :D The appeal for me is instant, and not only because he has glasses. (Though the glasses help, a lot. MY WEAKNESS! O.O Though it doesn't work ALL the time; I have NO ATTRACTION AT ALL to Lezard from Valkyrie Profile, for example.) He's really just like a character Jon might make. In fact, I'm not the only one who thought so. Jon told me that a guy from his old RP group used to tease him because he could tell Clive was SO his kind of char, joking that their GM at the time was making extra money off selling his character sheet to game companies. *giggles*
