Friday through Saturday - a weekend recap!

On Friday we tried going to the Red Sparowes concert at La Sala Rossa.

Unfortunately, the venue was just... bad. Too cramped and the sound was terrible. Took forever for the first band to get set up and on stage, too, and then the crowd that came to see them got way too rowdy (really, a mosh pit in a room as big as an attic?)

Their music just sounded like a whole lot of aggro noise. The instruments just blended together, due to bad mix and acoustics. I couldn't really get into it at all. Heck, I can't even remember what the band was called!

My ankles were suffering (this was no sitting concert), too. So by the time Red Sparowes started setting up, I was really in a sour mood, and Jon was disappointed at the bad acoustics. So we just left without even seeing the headlining band. Pretty much a waste of money, unfortunately. :(

We did have a good time before that though. We went to the mall, had some yummy Indian food for lunch, and did some window shopping for birthday presents (my birthday is in four days! ack! and my mom's is... today! double ack!)

Random but awesome stuff.

There's a new PJ Harvey and John Parish collaboration coming out this year!! WOO! I loved Dance Hall at Louse Point. This ought to be awesome. :)

I found out quite belatedly about the new Dir en grey album, Uroboros, that came out late last year. It's been released over in North America too by now, I think, so I totally need to find a copy!

I also finished Natural Ordermage (the last Recluce book I bought) and found out that the direct sequel, Mage-Guard of Hamor, is already in paperback! Yay! So I bought it. I am turning into a fan of Taryl, the ordermage that takes Rahl under his wing. (Jon teases me about it. Probably because when I talked about him I said "He's so a Sidereal".)

In a couple weeks I get to buy The Dark Spire (yay!) and also spend some money on spring clothes. Now if only Sims 3 were coming out sooner.

Fragile Happiness

Again with my 'dunno what to write in my journal' mood.

Though earlier I had written something angry. I'm glad I didn't post it. (It was about an argument I had.)

I ended up having a talk with a friend about my emotional state. I can't say it made it all better (cause there are no easy solutions for what I feel lately) but it did help me deal with my immediate feelings a bit.

RPoL is something I will eventually have to give up or cut down severely (college time!) but I have no motivation to do so right now. People are worrying about me concerning it though and I understand that. I worry too. I wish that so many things I like doing didn't have to end in me giving it up for my sanity.

Burn Notice! And another "past few days" recap.

Jon and I are watching Burn Notice. It's a TV series that's part spy-show with action and occasional drama, and part comedy. Oddly, it kind of half reminds me of Macgyver with more spy elements, guns, and sexy chicks in bikinis. :D It's brilliant. Also the main character's inner monologues about what spies should or shouldn't do keeps making me think of Seventeen ALL the time. XD

It is awesome! And made even more awesome because L.E. Modesitt Jr., the author of the Recluce books (one of my all time most favorite fantasy series, if you don't already know) recommended it. Actually, it was 'cause of his review that Jon and I bought the Burn Notice DVDs instead of the Fringe, which is apparently kind of lackluster.

That's disappointing :( Kind of reminds me how Alias ended up disappointing after having such an AMAZING start. (Spoilers coming, if you were actually planning on watching Alias, ever.)

Catchup post 1 [note: very sleepily written]

Time for one of my 'what I've been up to lately' posts. Since I'm not really posting very often lately. (Mostly, as one would suspect, due to RPoL distraction.)

Though before I go to the previous days I'll mention that I went out yesterday, probably for the first time in a couple weeks. :P It wasn't for long but it's something. Jon and I mostly ended up stopping by the bookstore... I got to snag the third Wicked Years book (A Lion Among Men) and the latest Recluce paperback (Natural Ordermage).

I also got another DS dungeon crawly game, Dungeon Explorers. It was only like $20 so why not? It's not the most spectacular of its genre (rather Gauntlet-like actually) but I am happy nonetheless. Dark Spire is the next dungeon crawler I'm *really* looking forward to for my handheld. :3

Anyway, on to summary part 1:
