omg

I had the most awesome Reborn Again idea just now.

Recently I got an email from someone who read Reborn Again and had hoped it would be finished by now.

Unfortunately I've never really ever gotten the drive to do the rewrite. I had... I don't know, an INCREDIBLE amount of writing for RA. 500-600 pages worth. And the rewrite? It would've been even longer than that just to get back to the point I was on.

I had a thought just now that I could still try to continue more or less where I left off. Something of a reboot of the Oasis City portion of the story, except written with all the changes I had in mind for the series. Basically, it'd be like starting the second or third book in a trilogy, after which I could go back and RE-write all the parts that came before.

I'm completely and utterly excited about this. It could mean I may finally break my RA block and finish the story as written in my head. Then rewrite / polish up / add to the past chapters and bam, have a Reborn Again trilogy (realistically this could be years of work, of course!)

Seriously I think this may not be a fluke. I may actually be able to finish. o.o

Something else entirely awesome.

I cannot believe this exists. Yet it does, and it totally rocks.

It's a documentary about viral videos, and in particular the Winnebago Man, the "star" of a popular video of outtakes heavy with swear-words and frustrations that most people thought were hilariously funny. The filmmaker actually went out of his way to seek the Winnebago Man (Jack Rebney, who is now an 80-some year old man living as a hermit in a cabin) and try to find out more about him, get his story on film.

And it actually happened! After 20+ years of seclusion Mr. Rebney actually agreed to cooperate for the documentary, even came out to film festivals where it's now showing (and getting great reviews, at that). What intrigues me the most about the film is that it's not just about the funny side of the Winnebago Man video, but also a sad story about the man himself and how his life was affected by being the subject of that video, and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to redeem himself through the very same medium that damned him.

It's absolutely brilliant, and I intend to watch this movie as soon as I can get my hands on it. :) I suppose I feel sympathy for the man, despite having laughed at his old video, because solitude and shame are things I understand all too well.

Diamanda Concert! +quick update

I'll be gone all evening/night I'm going to the Diamanda Galás concert in Montreal! OMG! I don't know what to say, except I'm just shocked and amazed I'm going!

Also, I've reached a point I've caught up with most of my RPoL stuff. I have Outcastes running every other day-ish, Five Coils maybe 2-3 days ish, and Academy every day, while I get through the Festival of Journeys event.

A lot of games I've joined have either slowed down or died, too... so... now I want to pay more attention to my own health. Namely, sleeping regularly (and ENOUGH for my body not to be constantly weary all day), eating regularly and incorporating more exercise. I'm worried about languishing too much during winter, which always triggers my hibernation mode, so gotta build some sort of momentum while it's still autumn.

I will be back with a concert report most likely! :D

P.S. as for Slicehost stuff, no, I haven't forgotten it! I've just decided I will resume with installing the mirror site next week.

Diamanda album!

Diamanda Galás is my vocalist idol, as I've said before -- the range, power and versatility of her voice never ceases to astound me -- and she is releasing a new album coming out at the end of March: Guilty Guilty Guilty.

I'm happy about this. :D I think that a recording is still a poor substitute to actually seeing and hearing a Diamanda performance in person, but I haven't been able to afford to yet (she's never played anywhere I actually live. ;.; So I'd have to figure out travel arrangements along with the tickets.)

I may have to import the album, but I did the same with Defixiones and La Serpenta Canta. I was too impatient for a local release. ^^;

Along with new Portishead coming out in April (!?!??! omg!) I am going to be a happy happy music fan in the next couple months!

OMG!

It's a Macgyver book!

I also watch too much Macgyver, apparently. We're on the 5th season now. I want to get my husband a swiss army knife. The best part is, he actually wants one. and would use it. XD It's nice to have married someone who indulges my fangirlisms just by being.

I've been talking to Kalli on AIM and it's been lots of chatty fun! I spent longer than I'd admit looking at a picspam posted on LJ of a couple of emo band boys groping and making out on stage. whoops... and I thought I'd left the part of me that'd actually LOOK at that in the closet. :O

The t-shirt Kalli showed me. Amusing. :D

And now I poke at my pmwiki some more... sigh... WHY~! can't I figure out a decent layout for it? Oh well. I probably won't get much done before I play PSU tonight.
