atlantica

DR events and Atlantica!

Tuesday night in Dragonrealms was the end of the Naarg event in Zoluren, so my entire night was taken up by participating in it (as Talliska). I think I'm really getting a taste for scouting / intelligence during invasions. I actually had fun, despite not being a fan of Naarg and all the crazy babble he inspired.

I find I just don't have all that much fun purely socializing in DR, lately. I just end up falling silent, spacing out and/or wanting to train something. I find my time spent is more rewarding when I'm doing something I feel is productive and useful. Like writing up documents or speeches, or using my hard earned skill in the game to sneak about and give enemy reports.

'Course, "usefulness" is relative here... after all, I'm doing all that work for a game. I pay to do it, not the other way around! Which really is kind of silly!

I think part of my problem is just not wanting to deal with people lately.

Hopelessness

Sanity low, hopelessness high...

I am going to take the next week to try and figure out my fate. Basically going to try and start the college app process despite the massive setbacks I'm still facing (no working phone number, no bank account, no health card and etc.) so I can at least have something I can feel is progression in life.

I may also be
- working on dice roller; with some suggestions from Kraken I am taking a slightly different and hopefully easier approach. But it also requires some AJAX... ewww. (And why does the name 'AJAX' even exist? I mean, AJAX = DHTML, pretty much.)
- putting up Paypal donation button. Money is needed. :(
- considering buying webspace based in Canada and actually starting up a low-pay web hosting service.
- playing Atlantica (Aemris @ Macedon server) and RPoL games when taking a break from work/responsibilities.

More about Atlantica.

So, I really like Atlantica. The reason mainly being because it's a free to play game but with a system that deviates noticeably from the norm.

First, a screenshot: My character (Aemris) and Jon's (Shiren) in Sapporo, one of many Atlantica cities (the geography of Atlantica is based on the real world, but with a lot of fanciful elements and interpretations of history).

Like most MMOs, you make your own personal character. You've got quests mostly collecting things and talking to people and stuff like that. There's a crafting system. And so on. But the part that I find really cool is actually the strategy game aspect.

Gaming, good and bad

Mmm, I spent a while today playing in this awesome new MMO: Atlantica. It's a turn based strategy MMO set in some sort of alternate real world (maybe 1500s ish?), and I am enjoying it enough that I think it'll be a keeper. :D More about that later.

Oh and I went and messed with the PS3 for a bit also. Jon and I finished Metal Gear Solid 4 a little while ago, and since it's our only game (right now) we were poking around with the Playstation Store. Downloaded some free demos, including Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, which is *really* great fun to play. I had a blast with the controls, and marveling at the very real physics engine (force grip, whee!)

But first the bad stuff...
