academy of celestial learning

OMG rest time nao! And a bit of immigration griping.

I totally slept for 2/3rds of yesterday.

And it was good.

I'm starting to think just getting more sleep and relaxing is really going to kick my writing mojo back into gear. I may be able to hang on to all my games on rpol, even. (Though, just the GMed ones. Have discarded most of the ones I was playing, already.)

Just that one day of rest made my mind SO MUCH CLEARER. Hard to believe how much that helped. I even managed to get my brain started on some cool new Academy events. Hopefully by the 7th or so (January) I should be ready to jump back into my other games as well (particularly the ones that require combat posting. My bane, given that it takes both inspiration AND fiddling with numbers/stats.)

But for now I have over a week of rest to go and I am going to enjoy it. Whee! Actually, we have to run to the grocery store too, to get our turkey for Christmas dinner (yum yum).

So... I've really done it now.

I'm playing Dragonrealms again.
And I am so very hooked.

How could I ever have *left*? I can't even imagine it. It's still the best gaming experience I've ever had, even after all the bumps along the way. And the GMs have been consistently trying to make training easier and fun. Maybe a pain in the arse for those who trained hard with the old ways, but me? I don't care.

Talli is circle 36 and looks like she'll be doing a fast track to level 40. She needs a crapload of Scouting, Climbing and Swimming (in that order) to get there, and a smaller amount of Medium Edged. After that I think I'll cut down on the circle chasing and get my weapons and defenses trained some more.

As for those wondering about my Order involvement. I had previously wanted to keep Talliska uninvolved, but after meeting with Manze and several new members he picked up since I was gone, I decided I really *liked* these people. I have some hope for the future direction of the Order, and wanted to stay on at least a while longer to see where that will go.

Also Halcier is still a member, too! TOTALLY a plus. He's one of my oldest remaining friends in DR. :)

The real RP update!

So the two biggest RP related things distracting me lately are:

1) The continuation of Five Coils. I managed to kick this into starting again by doing a big ol' fast forward and moving on to a different scenario. I hope I can keep it up and get people past Earth District, where I may be dropping a couple of players. There's twelve total, right now.

2) Soul Collectors, take three. Yeah, I gave into temptation and restarted it. I brought in a couple of players from Academy, really active and creative players. And I kept the others who were already going to join but didn't get to play much last time. The group is quite interesting, consisting of a Zenith Solar, a Full Moon Lunar, a Slayer Infernal (!), a Dusk Abyssal (Saisen, of course) and two Sidereals (a Secrets and an Endings. These are the two new players!)

I'm incredibly excited but incredibly nervous to run SC again. I really hope it'll work out. I hand picked even better players this time, I like to think. And I have plans for the next 3 missions or so that should take us through months of play. I just hope I don't end up posting too slow!

RPoL slimming down, immigration news, WoT!

I left a record number of rpol games lately. Just... a lot of really slow games, and games I wasn't all that interested in after the fact.

Incidentally I'm only in ONE FFRPG game now. And I had joined a HUGE amount of them just a month or so ago! I'm sad about losing the chance to play Irina, who was one of my faves. Just, the game didn't have the right pace and level of description for me.

Right now I'm trying to work my way into a game where I'm playing a No Moon, Tlatcha. She's a lynx totem, a sorceress, and has a theme concerning dreams with significant, even prophetic meaning. She's a Haslanti Dreamseer and gets called southward by a dream quest, thereafter getting involved in the game plot. Also one of my youngest chars, probably around 17-18 years old.

The GM is taking a lot of time writing out setting detail while working with the backgrounds and motivations of the PCs. I like that he's detail oriented, but I hope he'll actually have the drive to keep up the game itself once it starts. That's usually the difficult part. I see plenty more rpol games die than live.

I don't have a title for this.

(Note to self: put more tags when not so horribly sleepy)

I've been busy lately. This is possibly the longest gap I've ever had between posts. :( Which is rather sad really. But I guess a lot of what I would have to say, I can't write publicly for whatever reason. Or I feel like it's just too repetitive to bother with.

I also get really worn out just from writing on rpol. I used to spend up to 2 hours on single posts on my journal... now all my writing energy goes to my games.

I'm seriously burning out on the Academy event currently going on though. Just writing, and writing, and writing all those NPCs, unsure anyone even gives half a crud about what I'm writing, about the characters involved, or whether I'm putting in too much useless text, etc. I feel like I'm writing about a Festival that's happening in the First Age, that the PCs just happen to be at and interact with tangentially.

I don't even know if it's any good. Mostly because no one (besides my husband) really tells me.
