Tower RP signup -- duh

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 07 January 2009 in Projects, Website

I realized I never actually put the link for signing up for the forum in the first place. Wow, I'm dumb. :D

It's here: Sign up for Tower RP. When you click on the register link it says stuff about "Applying for Membership" bu that's basically Vanilla-speak for registering, really. Kinda like RPoL has RTJ (Request to Join). I just changed the register link text so I don't have to explain to people "this is where you sign up!!" every time.

Anyway, sorry about that... I was just not thinking last night/morning at all. -_-

"Wow, humans need food!"

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 07 January 2009 in Characters, Daily Post, Links, Projects, Roleplaying, Website

--aka what I said not long before passing out in bed 8-9 hours ago.

I've been wearing myself to the bone, really, which is sad but somewhat necessary. I'm knocking down one by one all my projects and obligations and such. I need to remember to slow down and do things like eat and sleep, though. At the end of my css-spree my right eye was blurry and I had the shakes and I couldn't even walk straight. Pretty sad stuff.

Then I had some food. "Hey wait! That makes me feel better! I should remember to do that more..." I had an energy burst of about 10-15 minutes before I passed out cold. XD

BTW here is the ORIGINAL layout I edited to make Tower RP: the Lussumo Community Forum (Lussumo being the group that makes Vanilla. I don't post here, just showing for comparison.)

Tower RP forum is live! (And I'm dead)

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 07 January 2009 in Programming, Projects, Roleplaying, Website

Arrrr, yeah, I seriously thought I wouldn't get this finished this soon, but I did, and my body and mind are paying for it now. It's the new Tower RP Forums!

Please sign up if you're interested in Tower RP and/or FFRPG. I need to approve all registrations, but I'll be checking on the site as soon as I'm awake and able to think with more than like... four brain cells. :P

These were probably the most harrowing two or three days I've ever had of CSS HORROR. GOD. WHY DOES IT SUCK. It isn't even real programming, honestly, it rarely EVER makes logical sense. I had to seriously hack the heck out of my CSS stylesheet (which is a heavily modded Vanilla forum layout) to make it not look like crap on IE. Like, font-size:1px, and min-height:100% and and wrapper divs to trigger hasLayout! Or whatever that was... I don't even know if I REMEMBER all the hacks I had to do.

forum woes (woewoewoe...)

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 04 January 2009 in Links, Programming, Projects, Website

I've been looking into forums to use for pbp stuff...

Mostly because I would like a solution that doesn't involve me coding a great deal, heh. Yeah so I'm lazy, meh. :P

Anyway I found that Vanilla has a pretty nice die roller plugin for it already... but I can't find a way to make subusers (basically one user, but several subusers to serve as characters). I'm thinking that it probably doesn't matter *anyway*, since I don't think anyone will play more than one character in Tower RP except me/Jon :P but it's still kind of annoying to have to log in and out for each character.

Busy for a while, sorry. x.x

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 04 January 2009 in Life, Projects, Website

Well this time it's more for myself... namely needing to catch up on my games, actually get some REAL rest and so on.

Just too high strung and worn out to participate in much right now, sorry. ;_;

Like I mentioned a couple posts down though, I'll be back by Jan 12th I think... I'll see about starting to help Eni out with her project (uh, unless she found someone else) and getting Tower RP started as well, if I haven't already. Mostly I'm iffy right now on what sort of forum software to use (still leaning toward MyBB though). And I am freaking lazy about writing a web based dice roller, do I suck or what? x.x

Eni - do you need a forum for your new project, or did you already put one up? Also do you still want sim-chan? :P the domain already autorenewed for another year, but if you're done with that name I'll put a stop to the renewals.

More Tower Revival info (x-post from LJ)

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 21 December 2008 in Characters, Projects, Roleplaying, Video Games

Since I wrote most of the Tower Revival stuff while COMPLETELY sleep deprived, I went and elaborated a bit about the project earlier today. I posted to LJ first -- now I'm pasting it here, so I have it saved in my database.

More info should be forthcoming in the next couple weeks. The new Tower forum itself won't actually appear until sometime in January. Along with the usual introduction, rules and setting threads, I'll have a subforum available to personally walk people through the character creation process.

I also want to read up on some non-core FFRPG rules. I'd like to potentially include subjobs, maybe even limit breaks. I also had an idea to allow PCs to start with some innate traits above and beyond what they get from chargen or job. (An example I had is allowing Ryshy to spend HP instead of MP to heal others, to simulate her 'empathicness'. Also, Kazuki's shapeshifting could count as an innate trait.) I think it'll end up being one passive trait and one active one, meaning you actually have to pay some extra cost to activate it.

Projects to come.

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 20 December 2008 in Characters, Projects, Roleplaying, Writing

I'm interested in working on a couple of old projects/concepts of mine and wanted to make mention of those. (Also, note to self: going to need to mess with Personal category some. Going to try and consolidate 'rants' and 'annoyances', maybe.)

Belladonna and Blackbird - Yes, the original Multiversal Investigation Agency idea. I want to actually write it or at least conceptualize it as I had originally intended, which is something like episodic but related chapters with an overarching plot, protagonists and recurring antagonists. This would be prose, this time, not RP. :P

Tower Between Worlds - I am considering reopening the Tower forum, pending some decisions that need be made about what TYPE of forum and whether I will code dice for it or make all the rolls myself. The system I am interested in using is Final Fantasy RPG, which I mentioned earlier (rules in pdf form here)

RIP Natasha Shneider, cover song project.

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 29 November 2008 in Celebrities, Music, Projects

I found out last night that Natalie Shneider (I knew her best from the band Eleven and from her work with various artists particularly Chris Cornell) died a few months back from cancer. She was one of my vocalist idols and I was completely caught off guard by the news she actually passed away.

It was mostly because Jon and I were listening to some CDs we've not heard in a while from our collection. One of the ones I picked up was Eleven's Howling Book and I was all "hmm, let's see if they have a new album??" only to find out the sad news.

Then I got the idea for a cover album (well, more like EP, maybe 5-6 songs) that Jon and I could try to put together, as one of Anthegenia Records' first projects. We really want to get at least enough gear together to start on it next year.

Sleep deprivation sucks.

So... we got our new windows, but they're not totally done. It looks like they need some finishing work. So we don't have any idea when the guys will come in again to finish it. Jon and I are all sleeping uneasily and it blows. :D

On the OTHER hand it's left me a lot of time to be inspired for gaming. I swear, wtf is with me lately? ALL I want to do is RP. *boggles*

I started another RPoL game which is Realm based and with a very amusing premise... The group is a mixed Exalt one, with the daughter of Sesus Nagezzer being supported by a splinter Sidereal group to reform Realm government, possibly even take the Throne. Splinter because the Sids are actually employing Solars in hiding to protect and aid her task, something I don't think the Bronze would do, and the Gold are too busy with their Cult to bother with.

Another PC is also her Dragon-blood husband to be. I may actually be starting this Realm game with a wedding gala, too! Heh!

Outcastes on the Open Sea (RPoL game)

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 13 October 2008 in Links, Projects, Roleplaying

'Cause I apparently can't stick to what I said I'd work on (though I'll get to the other stuff this week!!) I ended up putting up all the preliminary info for my first RPoL game, Outcastes on the Open Sea. It's something of an unofficial Grandquest sequel, you could say, as well as an opportunity for Jon and I to play Jadira and Lasuri again.

I plan to be taking RTJs for at least a week. I want people to actually take their time thinking about it, and enough time to build a decent amount of applications to choose from.

Tomorrow(ish) I'm going to start advertising in some of the games I play... tonight, though, I thought I'd post the link to the game here for people who read this journal. Since I know many of you personally, I figured you guys should get first chance at trying to create a character, if anyone wanted to. :O

P.S. Kraken, your chara is already accepted by default ^^ though if you've the time to type out the RTJ that'd be great.
