Obsessions

and it really. really. sucks.

I'm tired and I want to go to bed but I've been trying to transfer all my files and get used to Windows Vista and it's been really. REALLY. slow.

I've had to transfer files from hard drive to hard drive for the whole day.

Then there's the learning curve as I have to wade through undoing as much as I can of the increased dumbing-down that Vista tries to do (god, why do they try to make PCs more like Macs, NO NO NO!) that seems *less* intuitive rather than more. I don't even *get* why Application Data is split into Local, LocalLow and Roaming. WTF?

I'd be getting more angry except I'm so tired I'm beyond anger.

(Oh, but one bit of good/fun news: my machine is named "Saboteur", a homage to Seventeen, of course. *hearts*)

I spent last night getting the webhosting space and setting up my sekrit project. Man... it made me wish Drupal had better theming capabilities, cause wow... I am really pleased with the layout of that site. I shouldn't be waving around "loooooky i have a secret project!" when no one will even see it, but it still excites me 'cause I'm satisfied with the work, and I LOVE working on webstuff.

Speaking of not so secret projects, I am beginning to be tempted by making money through a reseller hosting account... like, not a LOT of money, but more like an experiment. I mean, nowadays reseller accounts start as low as $6/mo. I could get something pretty decent at $10/mo. All I'd really want is to see what I can do with it -- whether I can come up with a concept for low-cost (I'm talking, like, $2-3 a month) web accounts, likely paid through Paypal, that would at the *least* repay the cost of the reseller account -- and if more, it could even pay for my DR / PSU accounts, and my darksiren.net account. That would be sweet. :O

Oooh, but even BETTER news: I ordered my new computer! Finally!!

I hate leaving one of my depressing posts at the top of the page for too long, so it's time to post before bed. :P

Well, today is Friday, woo Friday! Here's some more things I want to do.
- Poke at starting Soul Collectors page? :O Maybe...
- Some more tweaking of Ruin Dancer Style, though I'm kind of lost as to how much more I can tweak without actually testing it.
- Possibly go n' get copies of Ex2: Dragon-blooded and Ex2: Sidereals, 'cause I hate reading rules stuff on PDFs.
- Possibly run Milena/Diamel ED scene! YAY Diamel. You know what, I realized totally belatedly that I based Diamel's looks on Klavier Gavin from Ace Attorney 4. WTF! Totally didn't notice until now!
- PSU~! It's PSU night, yay. I hope there'll be people who want to play, anyway.
- Read some more of that RP book Fiat sent me. Artesia: Adventures in the Known World. I don't know much to say about it yet except "whoa, history." There's a LOT of history, and names related to said history, in the first part of the book. @.@

The news is all over the place that Gary Gygax passed away at age 69. The father of D&D is gone... huh. The tributes I've seen thus far (including some clever webcomic ones) have been very touching.

R.I.P. Mr. Gygax.

Right now I'm downloading Mabinogi, since open beta just began today, but more about that in a bit.

On the video game topic, Jon surprised me today by coming home with DS games. Guess he got paid recently and he wanted to cheer me up. It was dampened a bit by the fact he went and delivered the immigration papers but he forgot to get me to sign the most important part (my letter). The agent said it didn't matter but... I still want her to have a signed copy. It's just important to me.

(Focusing on non-immigration things is probably good for my mental health right now, so here we go!)

I am actually looking forward to Final Fantasy XIII now. For many reasons, but I think the one pleasing me most right now is that the main character is a totally badass woman. Also, the game is rather sci-fi-ish and military oriented... yeah, that'll make one think "like FF8!?!?" but... no. Not really like FF8 at all. :O

Also I have to find out more about that blond guy with the headscarf in the trailer I watched. Whut, he totally looks like some sort of mix of Shirai and Iluun. Hee~! *fangirls a bit* I was telling Jon I can totally appreciate the main char (whose code name is apparently Lightning) for being a fighgunner. :D Though technically what she wields is some sort of gunblade--except it switches between being a gun or a blade, it isn't both at once. Or something.

So I'm kinda sleep-deprived (sleeping from 9am to 2pm sucks, yep!) but I'm happy!

A few random amusements:
- This scan of a letter on doingitwrong.com makes me very, very sad... for the education system, that is.
- Eni showed me the 100th Mythbusters episode which was apparently a Macgyver special! Jon and I watched it, and I was very, very much entertained. :D :D
- I found this mirror of a very old site of mine that was meant to be a risqué sort of fangirl shrine to my favorite male characters back then. It's on some archive site with sex ads appended to the bottom and the 404 messages now. When I saw it I said "WTF?" (Warning: if you look at the link, this was a page I made something like 9 or 10 years ago, so it's rather embarrassing on my part. :P Also, it's unfinished!) I should probably try getting it removed...

Also, we played Wardragon today, and as usual I lots of fun!

I think he actually strongly resembles Albireo from Reborn Again in some ways. They are similar kinds of people, and in a way even *look* similar. Well, they're both blond, on the tall side, good looking and appear young, though are older than most of the other main characters in their respective worlds.

Also, there's a certain relativity, I guess, in their morality. They are generally good hearted, I think, highly motivated by a desire to protect what's important to them. However, they may employ methods some would consider underhanded or outright manipulative -- basically, "the means justifies the end." They may even outright kill for their beliefs, and take a certain pride in their convictions.

It's a Macgyver book!

I also watch too much Macgyver, apparently. We're on the 5th season now. I want to get my husband a swiss army knife. The best part is, he actually wants one. and would use it. XD It's nice to have married someone who indulges my fangirlisms just by being.

I've been talking to Kalli on AIM and it's been lots of chatty fun! I spent longer than I'd admit looking at a picspam posted on LJ of a couple of emo band boys groping and making out on stage. whoops... and I thought I'd left the part of me that'd actually LOOK at that in the closet. :O

The t-shirt Kalli showed me. Amusing. :D

And now I poke at my pmwiki some more... sigh... WHY~! can't I figure out a decent layout for it? Oh well. I probably won't get much done before I play PSU tonight.

Gonna go out for dinner with husband ^^ Since we didn't get to celebrate our anniversary yet. We're going to a steakhouse I think, 'cause I wanted red meat and red wine. Wooo, carnivorous boozing!

Yesterday, I ran a couple of ED scenes (as I'd planned before remembering "oh yeah, it's my anniversary!") It went all right, though as usual I couldn't get things done within the time frame I hoped for. :/ I dunno if I'll get to run ED again until next year, either, except for finishing a scene with Kraken on Thurs. I may need the time anyway, the next part of Jon and Selina's is a battle, in a locked vault of records, with a pyro trying to burn them down. I may even make smoke inhalation an issue, but I'll have to think about it. Heh.

I got my copy of Persona 3. o.o This is such a good game. It's like... wow. Indescribably awesome! I'll do a better description when I'm more coherent. For now, I'm happy that Lumi wants to do a P3 RP (well, more like a writing-board, but it's very similar to RP anyways) 'cause I think I'll really get into it!

Along with that came the first part of Jon's present. I got him Ace Combat 5 and my flyboy really loves it. Teehee. *teases him* I keep thinking of 17 because he's supposed to be a pilot along with the saboteuring and infiltrating and long-winded internal dialoguing. XD He really a mix of Iluun and Suurnis. And MacGyver. XD XD XD

We also went to the mall today and I bought the now cheap (less than $20) Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix video game. Just on some weird whim. I wouldn't have paid full price for it, but it's still quite amusing and fun running around this fully rendered digital version of Hogwarts!

Annnnnd, I finished the ED scene with Garenth. Now I will find something to play till I conk out, 'cause I'm terribly sleep-deprived! (slept from 8 am to 12 pm or so. o.o)
