PlayOnline name: darksiren
Character: Talliska (Gilgamesh - Windurst)
We'll see how long I stick with FF11 :D So far, though, it actually plays somewhat similarly to DR, at least in terms of the way skills are trained... Except there's more classes and the option to mix classes. It's still mostly Final Fantasy-ish though, of course.
The game servers seem pretty quiet most of the time... But that could be 'cause I'm in a noob area. The few people we've met both on Gilgamesh and Siren (when I was trying that... decided to switch to Lumi's server though we've not met there yet) have all been pretty nice though. Generally I have a good impression of the player base so far, but that could be 'cause there aren't any worldwide chat channels to disabuse me of that notion. :P
BTW--I had a really damned crappy second half of yesterday which is why I'm preferring to be alone right now. :/

Woo \o/
Heh ^^ Quiet as in inactive, or just nobody talking? Mixed-nationality as FFXI servers are, it always used to be a huge faux pas to actually talk with /say, let alone /shout :P One tip about Windurst: there's a little tiny mage in each quarter that will teleport you to the opposite quarter. Memorize their locations @_@
Anyway, glad it sounds like you like it! I should totally roll up a Mithra, once I decide I'm actually going to stick with it x_x I tried to get back into it earlier this year to finally get through the plot(s), but gave up because I was having trouble with performance on my old pentium D... The PC133 ram might have had something to do with it. >.>;; It wasn't bad, but facing into a wall for performance as WHM and just staring at the health bars wasn't much fun.
Hey Rin. :D
Well, it's... mostly inactive. There aren't ever a ton of people around. Maybe 10 or so in Windurst proper that I'll see at any time. Though, I also tend to play at odd hours. :p
Doesn't matter to me, though, I only really play with Jon right now. ^^ I wouldn't mind having another person to play with though. But I've noticed it seems to be really important for players to be roughly the same level for everyone to get experience equally... or am I wrong? I couldn't figure out how to do that level equalizing thing.
Right now, Jon (Saisen) and I are just level 8. He's Warrior and I'm training Red Mage at the moment... not sure if I want to stick with it and go back to Thief before I start on Ninja though.
Level synch gooooo~!
With Level Sync it shouldn't be as much of an issue as it used to be--but with as many classes as FFXI has, it's not that difficult to keep them 'matched' anyway ^^
I don't know what I'd play though~ TaruTaru/BLM/WHM was always fun, but I get tired of having such small space for clothing real estate :P That and I really do like Thieves despite their difficulty... I can only imagine what it would be like to play a Thief in a group that actually cooperates--I certainly never had one before :D (Well that's not true. I was in a JP group once in Yuhtunga just outside of Norg once. ONCE! :P)
FFXI - continued
We just figured out that level sync needs you to be at least level 10, duh. Anyway, let us know when/if you are playing, what character and such! :P I am kinda unreliable on IRC but you can always drop a note on my journal or my (currently crappily formatted, I need to work on that) forum, I check my site more often than anything (email/IMs included).
