Saturday, restful! Sunday... more of the same!
Wardragon today!!! Yayayayayayay. :D
And Saturday was really a relaxing day. I didn't really do much of anything... except finally set up my netname on the Concordia site. Man, I can't believe I still have something like 5 months till I'll get a response... I suppose those months will go fast, but still, it seems like forever, still.
I messed with RPoL, as usual... Got to chat with Selina and Grey (he and I don't talk quite enough! and we should :o) and my sis (on Skype, anyway) and I played a bit more PSU (we got Phantom Fissure again, mmmm good drops).
I admit I kinda would like to RP more with Selina and/or Grey again :o I've been telling them about my RPoL games, though I also wouldn't be adverse to some OpenRPG stuff. I wonder if they'd play with Jon and we could have a small fun game. Something that ISN'T all bogged down 'cause of timezone issues, argh. Or they could get into my forum stuff, either way!
Here is another fun diversion Clark showed me: Alteil!
It's a web-based card strategy game. Clark's company is involved in translating and porting Alteil for an English speaking audience (it's originally Japanese). Clark tends to really get into the stuff he's worked on, whether it's anime localization or live action stuff or games like Alteil. So he's been trying to show Alteil to all his friends and acquaintances to get them to play.
He's really proud of his work. It's been like that as far as I can remember. Clark actually did a great deal of work on timing for the Rurouni Kenshin subs/dubs, for example... when it got on Cartoon Network he was really thrilled by that, and he'd show me and sis the episodes all the time. ^^ Now in Alteil he goes around as a player helping others get used to the game, writing strategy articles focusing on specific cards and stuff. He's actually been doing that for a couple months now, at least, and has been trying to nudge us (our small PSU group) to try it out.
Now that I finally showed interest he was really really enthused. ^^ He went and played a game in the training arena with me (I barely lost, aww!) It's a fun system. He's more interested in people enjoying the game than actually winning, something I've always liked about him since our Magic: The Gathering days. He and I spent LOTS of time just discussing card strategies and coming up with fun decks to test against each other. We were more into playing than competing, so it never felt stressful if one of us lost.
Clark always likes trying unusual combinations and strategies. Like in PSU, he's playing a CAST Acrotecher, even though CASTs are supposed to make terrible techers. His big green robot body goes around using whips and cards as weapons, hehe. And he makes it work! In Magic Clark was a Blue player and made heavy use of counterspells, discarding and other indirect but insidious tactics. Now in Alteil he also plays Blue (Falkow) which is Water/Wind, lots of agility and support. They're basically all about acting first and screwing you over in the process, heh!
Me, I'm playing Lawtia (Purple, woo!) which is most analogous to my Magic preference (Black/Green). Lots of undead and demon (well, lycanthropes they're called) units that are most powerful during the night cycle (there's three times of days the turns cycle through, night obviously being the last one). I tend to like deploying lots of creatures, so I like tactics that put creatures on the field (it's 3x3 in Alteil) and keeps them alive as long as possible.
Hmm. I should stop sitting here and actually rest for a while. Bah. :( getting my sleeping pattern fixed up is going to take time.
