Moodiness, and ramblepost (DR, Sims 2)

Kalli's leaving tomorrow... I guess I've not been very much in the mood to post.

I've been irritable for the past few days. One could say that I have trouble trusting people and thus my first thought is to assume they think ill of me, or think me a burden. I'm very paranoid about that, and enough suspicion on my part can make me just want to disappear.

I feel like I can say little to anyone lately. :/ I've been making an effort to, lately, especially now that I won't be talking Kalli's ear off, but my urge is just to be withdrawn. Maybe it's the big change coming up for me (note: we are indeed moving August 1st.) I have no idea. I know I ought not to discredit my friends -- there are people that truly care about me. But I get paranoid they might change their minds, so I keep a certain distance. Maybe they're just saying x just to be nice, is what my depression says.

So I spend most of my time playing Dragonrealms and Sims 2.

Dragonrealms

DR is going fine. Talliska is close to circle 34, just need one more weapon rank. :O I wish I could script training combat skills, hiding and stalking, shows you how lazy I am. (Well, technically, I could. But I prefer not to, since there's so many variables that can go wrong when scripting in combat.)

Order stuff, well, there's some cleanup going on of the member roster, and update of various documents such as code of conduct, training manuals and so on. I don't really consider myself all that special a member in the Order. The only thing of note I ever did was write a Prydaen document, and I don't even really want to be a race sage, though my work may show me to be qualified. ^^; I just wrote it because I liked writing about Prydaen.

I'd like to do something more... active, I guess. I can think of a few suggestions. The problem is proving that I can do it. :P All I do right now is train because I'm so focused on wanting to catch up to everyone.

This weekend there's a couple of events... one being the Purple Twilight Ball held by Princess Arilana of Zoluren. That's today. :O I decided I'd not have Talliska come along, it's not really her scene. So I've dressed up Ryshy to come with Alexsei, instead. She looks *great*. I decided to go with simple (as in short descriptions, not horribly wordy items) but elegant. The one iffy part is that I'm wearing her wedding gown from her wedding to her ex-husband. It just so happens the hue fits the theme, though, and it IS an original. Fortunately, I don't think her ex has been in the realms for some time, so who'll remember, right? n.n

It probably still looks wordy, but it's the least I've had Ryshy wear in... a long time. ^^; I even ended up taking off all her armor and stuffing it in the vault, though to fit all her combat and field training stuff in there, I had to bring her ENTIRE jewelry collection. It's in the bag, of course... she's not wearing it all. :P

She has much fancier jewelry than what I have her wearing, but... a lot of it has significance that's obsolete. Man. Ryshy needs new jewelry. ^^;; So instead of wearing a lot of gemstones I just have her wearing flowers. :O Fitting for her, anyway.

The other event this weekend is an Order of the White Rose meeting. Talliska will be there, of course. There's an Order hunt before it, too. I hope I can make it. ^^; I may not be able to 'cause I have other RP this Sunday, but we'll see.

Sims 2

I've been playing with Tower University again, in my main Sims 2 neighborhood. I haven't played with University since before I got my new computer. :O Unfortunately Sims 2 runs kind of hot, which sucks... it actually significantly heats up my corner of the room, due to all the HD accesses and CPU cycles it needs to run my game with all its custom content and hundreds of characters. ^^;

Anyway my intention has been to graduate some of the characters that've been in uni TOO long (as in, 1-2 years REAL time, since I neglected to play their university lot.) Also sent 7 characters to college: Thealan (Ryshy and Alexsei's son), Nardoan (Suurnis and Mellauna's son, named after Mellauna's father actually), Ismene (of the wealthy Mnemosyne family, youngest sister of the vampire Irianna), Kayode (Talliska and Saisen's adopted son), Jasper/Miranya (Cyrus and Mimi's twin children, a boy and a girl respectively), and Rose (actually a townie! but I put her into college due to her attraction to Jasper.)

Wow, too many characters. :O I like the combination though, including the chance to have Thealan and Nardoan grow up together. Thealan amuses me... he looks a LOT like Alexsei, but I gave him this kinda spiky haircut. He's actually kinda a goof-off compared to his very serious parents (high playful, high outgoing). Nardoan, I think, is more serious, but he has a bit of emotional neglect going on (Suurnis and Mellauna couldn't spend enough time with him, since they had their hands full with their twin daughters, born after him.) So I actually think of the pair of them as pretty rebellious, now that they have their college freedom. ^^;

Ismene is actually Thealan's love interest, they were together since their teen years. Nardoan, however, is a lone wolf, hasn't had a single relationship yet. I actually pondered there being a love triangle with the three. :D But I want Ismene and Thealan to end up together. As one of the Mnemosyne children, she's very outgoing and likely to be some sort of CEO or political figure, but she's more down to earth than her classy sisters. I think that's part of the charm of her and Thealan, since she's attracted to him because of reasons other than money or prestige (of which she and her family has a lot).

Jasper and Miranya are the product of me not realizing that eating spaghetti increases the chances of twins. :P I have NO clue why, but it does! Mimi ate spaghetti a lot during her pregnancy, so unexpectedly ended up with two children instead of one. Kind of a silly reason to have twins, but that's the Sims for you. ^^;

Taking care of twin infants is a pain in the ASS though. Can't trust the nanny to do it right, because she gets confused between which of the two to take care of first, and ends up taking care of neither. So if you have twins you're pretty certain to need one of the parents to stay home and care for them along with the nanny (or without, since she complicates things due to her crappy AI). Mimi and Cyrus got very little sleep until Jasper and Miranya were child age and had some autonomy.

As for the children themselves, Jasper is the more serious one and takes after Cyrus (he'll probably be some sort of scientist, or at least use logic to a large degree). Miranya is the more outgoing one and will more likely have some sort of social-oriented career. I've found that twins in Sims 2 tend to be 'opposites' in at least one personality trait, which is interesting and fun.

Kayode, as I've mentioned, is an adopted child, and unfortunately, was adopted before I used a hack to change the generation of random faces to have more realistic proportions. So he has an icky face, the cheeks are way too huge and the nose too long and etc. Fortunately, I can just try n' get that career reward that lets you remake Sims' faces. But that still means I have to live with it till he's done with college. Miranya doesn't seem to mind though; they're a good couple. She even went on vacation with Kayode and his parents at one point!

Jasper, of course, has been single all this time but I hope to possibly pair him with the townie girl I mentioned before. We'll see. :D I tend to allow BoF catpeople (aka Woren) to breed with humans and Earth races (I say that 'cause Mimi is Plainsrunner, and she and Cyrus, who's a Woren, had kids together) but I don't let Prydaen (like Talliska) breed with non-Prydaen since Dragonrealms lore says it's impossible. I tend to think a lot about hetero pairings in Sims 2, for the simple reason that I like messing with genetics and generations. ^^; So that's why all the urge to pair hetero characters with one another.

I do definitely have same-sex couples, but they are pretty much exclusively girl/girl. ^^;;; There's a few in Tower University, even, but I've rambled enough about the game... so I'm going to stop for now. :O

DR addendum

I'm currently trying to find descriptions of Prydaen clothing (sarrak, chmir, ysin...) in the DR forums and it's proving to be a pain in the ass. Curse Simu forums! But Talliska is going to be getting a custom item from a Queen's wedding package (courtesy of Terra), so I really must find something nice for her to have made~!
