Why I get these ideas out of nowhere, I dunno...

...well, to be honest it's something I've wanted to actually redo for a while. The Caduceus site, I mean.

Here's the main page that I've already shown before, and the actual journal part. The purpose of the journal will be for Jon and I to write in-character things about Ryshy and Alexsei, to help us flesh out how we'll separate them from Exalted's Creation and into Eskarne (my original setting for the Anthegenia Cycle, and yes, also the name I gave the Great Bird in Reborn Again. It means "Mercy".)

For the user profiles, I ended up using a nifty Nucleus plugin for customizable profiles. Even if there'll only ever be two users for the Caduceus, I just had to get it done *right*. ^^;

I went through a few different and interesting blog software and CMSs before settling back with Nucleus, one of my staple favorites:

Super Simple Blog Script. I REALLY liked it at first, and actually worked on this one a whole day before realizing I was just tweaking it *TOO* much that if I tried to update it, it'd be HELL to retweak.

Frog CMS. Not sure what to say about this one. I didn't try it long, but it interested me for using PDO (PHP Data Objects) for accessing databases. PDO is definitely something I'm interested in looking into for the near future.

Lifetype. I remember this being a promising one, but it was a little too complicated for what I wanted. It got pluses in my book for using Smarty -- still one of my favorite PHP templating engines.

Chyrp. This is one Kalli found for me. :O At first glance it looked VERY promising, but then I got into the meat of working with it and realized that the templating system wasn't intuitive in the slightest. Too frustrating to continue with for now. (Also uses PDO though. Cool.)

Kukkaisvoima. Hard name to spell as an English speaker -- it's Finnish, and I have no clue what it means. Anyway, this is a lightweight blog engine running on Python! I was going to try it, but realized it didn't allow for multiple users, boo.

I might go back to trying some of these for other projects, who knows? :O I still have to mess with learning Ruby, too, but I've been so laggy about that lately. Grr. I guess that I've just yet to see a Ruby app that does blogging or CMSing or wikis as well as the PHP apps I use. (Or even python.)
