RP post. *sighs at losing the original*
I really hate when I lose my posts... Now I have to rewrite all about Soul Collectors. Grrrr.
It went all right, though, and the players were great to work with (even the ones I originally thought might flake out or be problematic somehow.) Thy are used to a faster-paced game than I usually play/run, though, and I found that a bit hard to get used to, at first. Keeping up will be something I'll have to try hard at whenever I run -- though on the other hand, since everyone's posting so fast, there isn't nearly as much need to spend on detail.
Unfortunately, that ALSO means that when I do want detail, I have to describe as much as I can ahead of time. x.x
The players *seemed* to like the premise, which was to bring a Solar sorcerer to the center of the Black Chase and protect her as she casts the Benediction of Archgenesis, on the new moon of Ascending Water.
And the Solar in question happens to be a woman. Named Ryshassa. n.n Yeah. I put her in SC, but she's taking the role of a NPC. Also, she's 300 years old(ish) and paid for her Adamant Circle knowledge with part of her lifespan and the rest of her fertility. The shock of it turned her hair white and the color of her eyes this funky burnt orange.
Other than that she's still Ryshy, though I don't expect her to show any of her powers besides the sorcery, if at all possible.
I'm even iffy about her using her wound-transference, since it was removed from Ex2 Solars :P Probably because they're going for the "Solar Physician", not miraculous insta-healers, but I don't give a shit. I mean, how is it Ryshy without empathic healing? Meehh. But I'm already doing enough of an indulgence just by putting her in the game at all, even if she'll remain almost entirely mute the whole time.
Now I have to spend the next couple weeks-ish planning out the entirety of what the PCs will encounter in the Black Chase, which may be daunting. Everyone kinda has the idea that stealth is the best way to carry out the mission, and that is kinda != the dead swarms I wanted to throw at them. I really don't expect the stealth thing to last, but we'll see.
Other RP... well, there was Wardragon yesterday, which sadly did not last very long. :/ Grey kinda bit off a lot to chew by splitting everyone into separate groups doing different things. Well, not really *groups* at this point, basically EVERYONE is reacting to a different scenario. So I only really got to make a couple of posts. ;.;
I liked the stunt I did to start Archana's Ivory Dragon Form, though:
Archana gazes impassively at the sphere of weapons bristling around her. She does not have to turn to know that they completely surround her, and that any ordinary mortal would certainly die from the barrage.
Her eyes focus upon the grotesque form of the Red Grin as she pronounces her reply, her voice penetrating over the roar of panicked civilians, the pulse of essence weapons discharging shot after shot. "My right may have no weight for you, little spirit. But I do not need it. It is for the men and women of this city that I act, who deserve not to die such a twisted death as you would design for them."
"Whoever promised this 'revelry' is not worthy of my respect. Do not be afraid!" she shouts commandingly, both for the ears of her Fangs, and the rioters. "For Pasiap will bring you the peace and safety of His purity."
The incense smoke rises from her mouth and nostrils, palpable and invigorating, as the Daughter of Pasiap willfully enters the meditative state of the Thirteen Katas of Ivory. Breath after measured breath, the pale, smoky tendrils wreathe her jade-armored form, as utterly still as her expression is resolute in the face of death.
"It begins with stillness," Archana chants softly. "Driven by impetus. Tempered by resolve. In harmony with the earth, I face my enemies, and transcend them."
(woo, I also get to test what blockquotes look like in my new website layout. :P *tweaks css*)
Archana is in battle-mode now, so I get to be all intense and driven by duty. Woo. I might've mentioned last time that I did a great prayer stunt the scene before... making use of her Priest merit, and all that. Which is only fitting, because she's celibate for a reason! >.> But now she gets to go all out combative, with Ivory Dragon Form (giving her a total of 25L soak with her dragon armor) and Donning Pasiap's Scales (5m 1wp reflexive, one turn, gives extra HLs equal to Stamina). Oh and Touch of Earth's Purity which doubled her Stamina before she used her other charms. ^^; I feel quite cheat-tastic, but I DID build the Ivory Dragon style to be survivable as a pure soak-defense form. It's not typical to the form to actually PARRY a blow! Or Pasiap forbid, dodge.
I'm hoping we can move along the game though, now that Grey's decided he'd just run everyone's scenes separately over the next two weeks. I'm guessing that he can still run 17 and Archana together all right, then Deirdre and Zalia, then... I guess Ember and Sky do their own thing too (maybe not together though? dunno!) I basically just want Archana to get Ember's refugees out, get them safely to the Noah and the Mao-Chen and just... go! The group has spent WAY more time in Hollow than I would have wanted.
The problem with just "going" of course is that we're pulling out in the middle of a warzone with things like the Foe-Hammer and a partly(?) mechanized dragon in the airspace. And Zalia and Deirdre are IN the Foe-Hammer, trying to sabotage it (without the saboteur).
Yeah. Problematic. ^^
I had more to write, which was also swallowed by losing my post (grrrr again) but it will have to wait until next time. Need some sleep so I can prep for Emberdays when I wake. This time, I AM going to run it... as long as people want to play.
