A couple of things, actually.
Well, yesterday, I finally heard from Manze about the Prydaen document I wrote, and he was pretty impressed. I'm happy that the all-nighter I pulled was worth it.
Apparently he wants Talliska to be the Order's Race Sage for Prydaens now. I told him it amused me, because Talliska so doesn't think of herself as the teaching type. But I didn't outright refuse. After all, I DO feel like I know Prydaen culture backwards and forwards after all the research I did. ^^;
Also, yesterday night (today), I created this: Iyadali Waveshorn. It's an Exalted 2nd edition character sheet for a Roleplay Online game. Young Solar exalts, +10 bp more than normal, blah blah.
Iyadali babble
I'm happy with Iyadali. ^^ I also think the group I ended up meeting shows some promise. The ST is a chick that seems like a really cool person, and all the other players besides me are guys. Heheh. We've got a ninja-ish Dawn, a prophet Zenith, a gunslinging Night, an Eclipse sailor/social-type, and my character, who's an island shaman and sorceress. Apparently they've all played together before, but were happy to welcome me.
Mwaha, I hope this game actually gets somewhere. I *really* like the concept I came up with. I wanted to do another Twilight healer/sorceress that wasn't anything like Ryshy, so I went for something more tribal and shamanistic. So Iya has all these superstitions about ocean gods, and I gave her plenty of Occult (both for sorcery and to make prayer strips / talismans) and Performance (to give pleasing prayers and offerings to said gods). I gave her a natural/homeopathic sort of background in medicine, so took Survival as Favored to reflect that (helps her gather medicinal herbs and such). I waffled between Resistance and Athletics and finally chose the latter, because I wanted her to end up becoming a strong swimmer.
Combat-wise, Iya mainly uses Thrown. I went and made a version of Sol Invictus's Sun Bolt that's basically a light Mirror of the Crypt Bolt -- it's better than Spirit Weapon, IMO. I'm aiming to get Fiery Solar Chakram, the Solar Charm in the Abyssal book that lets you throw bolts with Charisma instead of Dex, and add your highest Virtue to Acc. (It'll be funny when she finally gets it... I think her Acc will jump up by 4. :O Makes me think I ought to write some sort of stunt to explain the sudden change!) Of course, I don't always want Iya to be flinging golden essence all over the place, so I gave her a pair of exceptional war boomerangs just in case.
For defense, I gave her a couple Resistance charms and some armor for defense, and will be building up her Dodge, which I took favored to make that easier to do. Also gave her some ori bracers, so she has a fairly good base Dodge DV for her power level, but no Charms yet to modify it. ^^; I almost did take Dodge Charms, actually, but I figured that since I wasn't taking Resistance as a Favored, I'd better use chargen to get the two Resistance Charms I DID want (Durability of Oak, Spirit Strengthens the Skin). Getting Shadow Over Water is probably the first thing I'll do with my experience. ^^; But for now I'm just going to depend on spells and soak to keep Iya safe, and stunt the hell out of my Dodges.
Iyadali also has spells, which I had to choose very carefully because I only had space for three. I don't mind; I'm not sure I'll even have Iya get Celestial Sorcery, though if the Zenith (who's also a sorcerer) goes through with it, maybe I will too. I ended up NOT getting countermagic, which I may regret, but at least it's easier to learn on the spot. :O No summoning, either... not really into that. Just some utility/protective spells (Impenetrable Frost Barrier, Impervious Sphere of Water) and what's probably my favorite attack one, Thunder Wolf's Howl. I almost got the one that calls the winds to speed up / hinder a ship's progress, but I decided I wanted at least one spell that'd be useful offensively. Anyway, more travel time means more training time, right? :D
I'm pondering having Iya expand into Martial Arts eventually, which is why I gave her the one dot in MA... I wanted to explore actually using the aspect of Solar Bolt Attack that affects unarmed combat. That's probably pretty far off, though, and will depend on how much I think the group will need that compared to Iya's Twilight Caste abilities.
And... that's all, I think! I'm happy :D I'm probably a little too obsessed over the character right now, even. I got so distracted by it I missed the chance to mail out Kraken's card... *shamefaced* But on the other hand, it *really* cheered me up to work on something I'm positive I like, instead of stuff I'm not confident about. ;.;
New RP project thingy?
Oh! Speaking of RPoL... I actually have an idea to run an Exalted forum game myself, and am pondering using RPoL for it. (Mostly to ease recruitment, really, and for dice rolls. Though I would prefer hosting on my site.) I'm going to wait on fleshing that idea out for after I run Soul Collectors, though. I mean, it'll be something to think about if SC totally bombs on me due to me being totally nervous about running it. Ahahah. At least with forum RP I don't have to feel bad about flaking out on people, or writing lengthy posts... honestly, now that I think of it, my style is actually conducive to forum RP, and so I'm going to try it. :P
The broad concept I came up with for my forum game so far is simply "aristocracy and warstriders." I have to admit, all the Gundam Wing I've been watching lately really influenced that idea! But I may just run with it and see what background I can write up. It'll be an AU again, and probably First Age, without any Great Curse stuff to worry about. (I may even think of some way to make Abbies more like dark Solars than "omgevildeath!" but I'm still pondering it.)
Rules... I am leaning towards Ex2. But I'm tempted to try actually rolling defenses for this one, rather than DVs. Not sure, though, since it'd be harder to do on forum. I guess we'll see!
