Went out today, and sekrit project progression!
I spent last night getting the webhosting space and setting up my sekrit project. Man... it made me wish Drupal had better theming capabilities, cause wow... I am really pleased with the layout of that site. I shouldn't be waving around "loooooky i have a secret project!" when no one will even see it, but it still excites me 'cause I'm satisfied with the work, and I LOVE working on webstuff.
Speaking of not so secret projects, I am beginning to be tempted by making money through a reseller hosting account... like, not a LOT of money, but more like an experiment. I mean, nowadays reseller accounts start as low as $6/mo. I could get something pretty decent at $10/mo. All I'd really want is to see what I can do with it -- whether I can come up with a concept for low-cost (I'm talking, like, $2-3 a month) web accounts, likely paid through Paypal, that would at the *least* repay the cost of the reseller account -- and if more, it could even pay for my DR / PSU accounts, and my darksiren.net account. That would be sweet. :O
Oooh, but even BETTER news: I ordered my new computer! Finally!!
I saved up enough money this week -- it took MONTHS, but I gladly forked over that $1k. I can't remember the specs off hand, but it was basically the best computer in the store. ^^; I wanted something high performance -- of course, it would be even better if I could've forked over money for an even better video card, but hey, I'll be satisfied with my 4GB of memory and my Core 2 Quad CPU. The video card is definitely still better than what I had before (though, less memory on board.)
Anyway, it's going to be delivered here in 4-5 days. *boggle* I'm happy! Though I'm a little apprehensive I'll have some issues with Windows Vista, I guess I'll just have to see. (We had to actually order the compy because the one in the store only had a French language OS.) Getting a new comp is always at least a little apprehensive 'cause it could end up incompatible with some program or game you really want to use/play. :P
This is the first time I've actually bought a store assembled computer. I was *always* putting them together, ever since my dad taught me how, and then Jon and I started doing that together. In all actuality though, I'm saving money by buying the whole thing together... I mean, Vista ALONE would be like, almost half that price. =_= So, I thought it best to do it that way. The plus to doing that is that I get to pretty much hand my current computer over to Jon, who has a pretty old system ;.; I feel a little bad just giving him my leftovers, but I still think my current machine is pretty decent. Dated, but still decent, with a pretty good gaming video card for its time (like, 2-3 years ago I guess).
And the rest of our spare parts are going over to the media computer. Whoa~! We practically have all the parts we need to put it together now. It'll be a lot of old parts, but if all it's doing is serving music, it doesn't need a lot of power anyway. We'll probably set some time next week to put all that together. :O
So yeah! The compy was my big purchase today. I haven't even thought of what I'll name my shiny black beast today. Knowing myself I'll probably end up calling it things like "Gatekeeper" or "Saboteur" or hell, I might as well just call it "Seventeen." Oooo so sleek and dark... like 17's uniform. Oh god, I just made myself blush. :D Let's see... My huge tower in my old room at my parent's house was named "Succubus". Then my next computer was "Yojimbo". And this one is "Blackwing." So I named after the Dark Siren, Kazuki and Alexsei. :D So 17 could be a very appropriate continuation of this pattern (since Jon always names his computers after my characters, now that we're together. Does that mean Jon's next computer will be called Archana? ^^)
Also, I could always say I'm going to "play with 17" and giggle to myself furtively every time. Man, hopeless fangirl! Argh!
Oh, while we were out to get the computer, I also ended up buying Shiren the Wanderer for Jon. I'm excited to see him play it, for reasons I've already babbled about previously. And I bought the new Nick Cave album, Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!! ... did I get enough exclamation points in there? Mwahaha. The lyrics are all written with TONS of punctuation and odd spacings and lots of ampersands, for some reason. I was totally cracking up reading it with Jon on the bus.
I'm listening to it right now, actually. It's freaking awesome, of course. I mean, it's NICK CAVE!!!!111oneoneeleven Actually, it makes me think of Diamanda Galas's Sporting Life, which, realy, only makes it cooler. (I actually saw the Terrorizer magazine article with Diamanda on the cover at Archambault -- mwahaha, the interviewer caught Diamanda in an aggressive mood, apparently. I loved the "I want to put men in cages and take them out when I want to play with them" (paraphrased) statement. It amused me to no end. XD Okay, it's totally misandrist, but I get the feeling Diamanda likes to cultivate that attitude among journalists, it kinda helps her when she wants people to leave her the fuck alone!
Oh, and before we came home we went out to eat. We went to an Italian restaurant / bistro called Bistango, over near the mall we usually go to. A little bit pricey (like $30-35 for a full course meal, which we both ordered) but high quality food and presentation. I had a dish with duck cooked medium and leeks and... other flavorings I can't recall at the moment, it was quite good ^^ and this creme brulee (I'm not arsed to type those accents in right now x.x) corn side dish. Jon had the pork with this kinda apple/pineapple/nuts sort of mixture with it, it was very gourmet / unique.
Jon and I rather like being adventurous with food so this was a great place to be. The soup we got was a Tonkinese soup with shrimp and marlin, it tasted kind of like a bisque except with seafood chunks and noodles. ^^ Very VERY good. And we also had a vegetable cream dish that came with it, it had rutabaga, and some other medley of vegetables in a warm puree... first time I ever had two soups, but I think it's kinda an "in between" dish since our main course took a little while to get there.
Oh, and I got to find out what a Richelieu cake is, because I ordered one for dessert. One word: Heavenly! It's something like a chocolate mousse cake with a wafer-y bottom, which just so happens to have hazelnut cream between the wafers. I was totally surprised (in a good way) when I tasted the hazelnut, it's one of my favorite flavors ever. That was a pretty damned good meal, cost me a good penny but eh! I actually had it to spare, for once. I'm still going to get my birthday money on top of what I saved for the comp.
God and I really need to stop babbling now, I think I've covered the entire day -- which seems like a lot for a few hours! Heh! So I'm gonna go spend more time with hubby before bed.
