Holidays

Yay for 2009! Oh wait, this is the year I turn 30... *weeps quietly in a corner*

Anyway, sis should be back home by now (I'll have to check on her one more time, but she had a meeting to go to almost as soon as she got off the plane.) So I have the apartment to myself. I need days just to recover from how exhausting it was to have a guest for 10 days. It's not that I don't love my sis, we're just very different people.

The more I am away from the Bay Area, the more I realize how much leaving has changed my lifestyle. I just don't think living there will ever be 'home' again. Part of me is sad because I feel that my choices in life will ultimately distance me from my blood-related family entirely.

Well, it's Christmas morning afternoon, and I figured I should write something. I know not everyone celebrates it, so I'll just make this a general Happy Holidays to all, if you're taking a break to spend quality time with family and friends.

I have a few specific holiday messages too (for Eni and Kalli and Selina. Others already got snail mail cards from me, assuming they actually GET there. :O)

There's a lot of people I've kinda been sparing in contact with, and I'm sorry about that. ;.; This last year has been a really introverted time for me, I guess. I just need a lot of time alone. I'm worried that I'm starting to get increasingly asocial and agoraphobic (just don't feel the urge to go out much at all), but that's something I will have to think about more next year.

...early. whatever. I should be sleeping but I'm not. x.x

ANYWAY, oh! we have Soul Calibur 4 for PS3 and I'm having fun with it. I've not played Soul Calibur since the first one, or was it the second? Anyway, I am playing Tira now and she is my favorite. :D Razor hula hoop anyone? also, her soul edge weapon looks like Ouroboros. *awesome!*

Then Jon and I went into character creation and made Archana and Seventeen. XD (Archa is using Mitsurugi style right now because her current weapon in Wardragon is a reaver daiklave with quick draw iaijutsu type style. 17 is using Cervantes style, since he's a two blade fighter and also happens to have a pistol. Except 17's is not a gunblade.)

We also went out and bought a *board game*, haha. It's an adventure dungeon crawler type thing. I forgot what it's called... possibly because I am so sleep deprived right now it's SICK.

Came back with some video games. :O I decided I'd put most of my Christmas money into a game shopping spree. Among other things I have Luminous Arc 2 and Rhapsody for DS, and also Baroque for the PS2. I got the only copy I have EVER seen of Nobunaga's Ambition for PS2, also. :D

I was really indecisive ;.; there are SO many games I want. I think I will go grab Persona 4 too (which Aurora on LJ very kindly reminded me about) and a PS3 game. That's *plenty* of games for the next few months. I tend to actually stockpile them... I'm a bit of a game packrat, but sooner or later I DO play them. ^^:

I keep wondering if I should've just grabbed Persona 4 instead. I was just less inclined to get it right away because it's newer and more likely to still be in stock. (The video game chain around here, Game Buzz, really favors Atlus games for some reason.)

Meh... no sleep. I feel like crap.

I've been trying to finish up the Christmas cards which I forgot to send yesterday. I have two I am not even sure I'll send. :( one was for Kalli but dumb me just remembered she changed her address, and I don't HAVE the new one. Bleh.

I was gonna send one to Eni but then I thought "wait will her family think it's weird" 'cause the last time I sent a card I had to send it to a different address and now I'm all confused. So I'll just not send it and send something better on her birthday instead.

Cards will be late, anyway :( Honestly, right now I hate life and would be happy to disappear from it. I have this stupid, irrational wish that I could just exist in a reality where I'm the only real person, because other real people trigger my anxiety when I can't figure out what the hell they really think about me and stuff I do.

...and I had a great meal (mmm, calamari, and linguine al vongole... yeah, I like my seafood). We came back with a 6 pack of Guinness and I am probably going to get buzzed, haha. Go Asian alcohol tolerance! :P

I also bought the Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG book. I'm actually really excited about trying it. I've had my eye on this book for a little while now and I think it may be even better suited for Reborn Again (with a little fudging of course, since it's more fantasy than modern, and would need some race additions possibly). Even if not, I think I like the system/setting enough that I might like to run it for some other original concept.

It's a game that has an anime feel, but isn't anime from the foreign fan's point of view, which is kinda what stuff like BESM and Exalted feel like now and then. (Exalted, to this day, names Ninja Scroll as an inspiration, and that makes me VERY VERY sad. Ugh.)

Despite my last post (which is actually an old one I meant to post a while back, anyway) this is actually turning out to be a decent day.

It's Labor Day... it's sunny outside, and I'm gonna have a picnic and day out with Jon as soon as this entry's done. (I just had to write all my thoughts out before going, and it's taken longer than I thought. ^^)

I heard from an old friend today, too. I'm just amazed (and happy) that she wants to talk to me still. I honestly thought we'd just drifted apart due to life events and so on. It happens, and I'd been resigned to it, but a part of me always hoped that we could make up for all that lost time. Maybe we still can. :O

Oh, and on the RP front, I'm joining two more RPoL games. ^^; They're quite interesting and unlike anything I've played before.

Nyargh... I spent several more hours messing with PmWiki. I have such a love-hate with it sometimes. I ended up needing to look at where the default wikistyles were kept, and lo and behold, they're in scripts/wikistyles.php! DUH!

I had all this trouble with the Maguila skin because I wanted to make headings that weren't sidebar links, but it messed up the spacing all bad, so I needed to make a custom class. It didn't help that the CSS for Maguila doesn't seem very well-written. I mean, there's repeated elements everywhere, for one... I took out a few of the things I thought were redundant, but I'll have to clean it up more later.

I have a basic idea of how I'll organize the wiki now (including renaming/adding some projects), but I still have to mess with the right side bars. They're going to change depending on section, while the left one remains the same... I think.

I do feel kind of anticlimactic right now, having spent SO much time on New Years' Eve on this thing and I'm STILL not done, but I won't waste the rest of the night on it. So! Time to shower and get out the booze! We have apricot brandy and coffee liqueur and Thai food! It's just a celebration of 2, it looks like (unless I skype with some people, maybe.) I wish I could be happier, but... eh. :(

It was all right. Fun, ate lots of food, got presents (mostly money, but we also got a really nice wok, and I got a Harvest Moon game for the DS.) We got Jon's brother and dad all hooked on playing DDR, too, cause we brought our mats and game. So they've been playing it a lot.

Me, I'm starting to get more into difficult level. 4-5 is where I'm best, though. 6 only sometimes. -_- I kinda want to get DDR Supernova 2 now, since it recently came out. More songs!! and stuff! And if we get it tomorrow I bet Jon's bro will want to try it. :D

He also brought a Wii and we played it a bit. I'm not sure I'm sold on the Wii yet, as in... playing games that require motion sensing. I suppose it does work your arms out a lot though. :P But the only games I've really seen for it so far are party games, so I'm probably not getting the full extent of what the console is capable of.

I slept through the bus ride mostly. (My car is still sitting somewhere, waiting to get registered. Darn holidays!) Man, I didn`t realize how exhausted I was. I'm so burned out right now I could probably sleep for days if I let myself.

My inlaws like my cookies. Yay. :D I think the chocolate dipped macaroons are the best I've made, especially. I even got making the chocolate dip juuuuust right.

I'm going to eat soon and then there will be present opening, probably! Jon and I are sleeping in the room with the computer while we're here so I can use it allll I want. >.> I actually wanted to upgrade the Darksiren Wiki and actually PUT more stuff on it while here... maybe! and work on Nekigame char.

More soon! ooh...I just heard people trying 'Paint it Black' on Guitar Hero (2?) and it made me think of Cat. I hope she got her b-day present!
