Outing

Inglourious Basterds... etc.

Inglourious Basterds was... an awesome, awesome movie. The only problem was that it also triggered my anxiety a lot (I mean what's not anxiety-inducing about Jew hunts in Nazi-occupied France, eeeeeeek *shivers*) I wish I could have turned off my anxiety reflexes cause if not for that, and the really annoyingly noisy couple on my left side, I would have enjoyed the experience thoroughly.

While the movie handled really grim and violent topics it didn't take itself too incredibly seriously. I guess dark humor is the right name for it. Though I didn't really feel the movie did a disservice to the terrors of the Holocaust (in fact the end, or near end of the movie could even be considered cathartic for that!) Of course I don't have family who suffered through it so I wouldn't be the one to truly judge.

Brad Pitt's character was a great deal of comic relief (I think that accent had to be bad on purpose) but his character isn't even the main focus for most of the movie itself. Well he's a big name actor, so it makes sense his face gets plastered on all the ads and reviews though!

RPoL, still worth it? :/ and other brief topics.

Ahhh, spam comments. Either my captcha isn't working as well, or real people are being hired to post those things. The latter is so much sadder, but I would believe it happens. (Why my site though? WTF? I don't get that much traffic.)

For now I just keep deleting them as they come up. Mrr, need to really do another tag-cleaning/rearranging though. I keep procrastinating. ;.;

Jon and I are going out today and will be seeing Inglorious Basterds (the new Tarantino movie with Brad Pitt, and nazi-killing, apparently!) Man I am so going to welcome a break from the computer. I'm having more rpol troubles lately. :/ Again, I don't feel right writing about any details here. It's just discouraging, the sort of discouragement that makes me wonder if it's worth my effort to continue running games.

Shopping spreeeeee

Damn, shopping yesterday freaking exhausted me. I don't know why. I wonder if I got some sort of cold or illness or something in the air cause I got SUPER LETHARGIC after.

Anyway I bought stuff! Mostly clothes :o (Sigh, I hate my body shape... it's so hard to find pants now!) I also got the second Godspeaker book (The Riven Kingdom), reading these is like candy!

And I bought Knights in the Nightmare, playing the tutorial is making me go "wat" with how stylus heavy the game is. This isn't a bad thing, but having to do all that dragging the wisp around WHILE DODGING BULLETS! Aieee! I'll get used to it, but it still amuses the heck out of me. I'll probably also get my butt kicked like I did with Rondo of Swords. (Sting makes evil hard games!)

It continues to be incredibly hot. x.x HELP. Actually, it's mostly humidity, so it's hot AND stormy, and I'm anxious about being caught in a thunderstorm cause the loud noise scares me. I need to try going out more though, and exercising more too, or I'll never get rid of the extra weight I packed on since last year. :/

Quick summary of my day out.

Yesterday I went out for once, and actually stayed out for half the day without any terrible anxiety. Since I'm rather tired right now (I struggled at writing a RPoL post all through the night... sigh) I'll just summarize quickly for now.

We bought the PS3 Genesis game collection. Jon wanted it 'cause he's a dork. :D It's the best collection I've seen of Genesis (and some Master System) games yet. Has all the Phantasy Stars, Shining Force 1 and 2, all the Streets of Rage games, Sonic games (of course), etc.

I also preordered Sims 3, which is coming out June 2nd. SO CLOSE! I can hardly wait!

Then we went to see Terminator Salvation. Which I actually enjoyed. I've heard it wasn't so popular, but I stopped paying attention to what others think a long time ago. The movie suited my tastes. I liked the look into the war with the machines, the Terminator and vehicle designs, and particularly the character of Marcus. There were also a couple moments where I was totally thinking "+3 stunt!" heh!

We did some walking, then settled down at a restaurant that's open late at night and had a nice meal. All in all a good day... but now I should stop depriving myself of sleep and try this RPoL post later. :P

Dark Spire is awesome.

Whoa birthdays. Eni's was yesterday but I was out all day. And today's is Selina's and Lumi's. I'm sending birthday wishes all over the place.

Still feel rather sad I'm not sending gifts because I like being generous, but right now being generous may not be a good idea. Still no financial aid yet and Jon is just starting a new job at the end of this month.

On the other hand I DID spend *some* money as I had some left over... namely, to get Dark Spire. FINALLY. XD And Jon bought some music CDs which I will talk about later.

Dark Spire is just... totally awesome so far. Mmmmm challenging dungeon crawlers. The premise is very simple (go to the top of the tower, kill the bad sorcerer, get back the treasure--it's very Nethack-ish actually), and the gameplay seems deceptively simple as well. But this game totally does NOT handhold you through much at all. Even the tutorial had this attitude of "just DO IT already, stop asking questions!" which amused me to no end.
