Speaking of Wing Commander...

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 27 July 2008 in Video Games, Links

WCNews -- this site really brings back the nostalgia for me. Wow. :O

I almost wish I'd stayed in the fandom. As fandoms go, WC doesn't look like a terrible one. Kinda niche, and decent(ly obsessed) people from what I can see. That site's collected a great deal of Wing Commander info I didn't even know EXISTED, and is still getting more!

Sadly, I really only played the first two games before I went onto other pastures. I have some fond memories of the WCHQ, writing interactive fics and such. It was damn cool being one of the only girls I knew into the games, besides my sister, of course. I remember at one point I actually wrote a fic to be posted on a Wing Commander fanzine, based on the first contact Terrans had with the Kilrathi! *boggles* Ahh yes, and it was called Trid-Link (the fanzine), after that lil' booklet you got in the Wing Commander 1 box.

Geez... :D I almost want to replay WC now. Maybe I'll get Jon to do it if I can't. x.@ I suck badly at those kinds of games nowadays!

More reason to hate CSS!

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 02 July 2008 in Links, Website

I've been working on a layout -- and I mean a very SIMPLE layout -- for the new Caduceus site. I had everything done, more or less, but then discovered that the top banner (which was a centered image) was always shifting a few pixels to the left compared to the splash page.

Yeah, so it's just a few pixels, who cares, right? ... I do! D:

So I raged for a while (all last night, in fact) trying to figure out the issue, when it finally struck me just a few minutes ago. It's the *scrollbar*. The scrollbar was messing up the centering for short pages. x.x So I followed the advice I found here and put in a

html { overflow-y: scroll; }

in the CSS to force a scrollbar all the time. Gah~ I really do hate CSS, have I said that before? n.n

OpenRPG silliness!

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 24 June 2008 in Friends, Internet

And lastly (for tonight), here's some amusing "lookit us be stupid on OpenRPG!" screenshots.

Where da Hoot? - named so 'cause of the shoop da whoop face Jon and I drew and my monocle (suspiciously missing an ORLY owl.) This was the result of us testing out the whiteboard and degenerating into intarweb lulz.

Entertainment and Ataraxia - proof that we did, indeed, use OpenRPG to play hangman. I would've only saved one example of this, except "Ataraxia" amuses for being both Kalli's hangman word and the name of her Maple Story guild that she ran. XD Dork points! (I think Jon got his for recognizing the word as one of Raja's skillz in Phantasy Star 4. Mwahaha.)

I have no other words for this. Except the three of us ought to get together to play stuff online some more. XD

Ragechana vs celibacy.

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 08 June 2008 in Characters, Roleplaying, Logs

Bwahhaa log time.

I was playing Archana, and kind of... sucking at it because I was having trouble getting inspired. (Wah. But it's really hard to write stunts for normal attacks every turn, and have them not sound the freaking same every time.)

Anyway, Archa is fighting a god of slaughter, and the battle's kind of on the slow side. She's not built for offense as much as defense. So, except for a couple lucky shots from Archa's sword, they're kinda just poking at each other ineffectually. I tried to use Burden of Permanence but it kind of phailed without a combo to boost her damage, which I'm likely going to stunt-learn next turn.

Meanwhile, Archa managed to block the entire damage from the god's HUGE attack. But it also had some funky poison with it, that basically makes you fly into a RAGE. Archa resisted it enough so that she can control her rage, but she's still PISSED nonetheless.

Why I won't buy American Apparel.

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 16 May 2008 in Opinions, People, Fashion, Links

I totally can't take this guy seriously.

"This guy" being Dov Charney, the CEO of American Apparel -- which I swear has to be the skankiest clothing store out there, with the equally skanky "hi! we're a bunch of amateur soft-core porn models" advertising. And let's not forget he does many of the photo shoots for said advertising himself. He specifically eschews touching the pictures up with Photoshop and whatnot, which I would applaud, except that the pics end up with something of a heavy-on-the-flash "Myspace whore" look to them. Nasty.

Oh and let's not forget to mention how open with his sexuality he is, including having relations with the younger girls he works with... of course, insisting that it's all consensual, and about sexual freedom, and he encourages a casual work place and so on.

DR RP... some Soul Collectors thoughts...

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 14 May 2008 in Characters, Roleplaying, Online Games, Logs

Well, let's start with the SC stuff. Basically, I'm still short on players and I'm going to cease nagging the people who are taking their sweet time getting back to me. Soooo... hopefully that'll leave me with 4 players without having to beg someone to play. (Argh.) I have no clue where I'll find another player, either.

Sometimes just think it's not even worth bothering to start SC. Kind of getting jaded about it and I haven't even run it yet. I just wish finding players was easier to do. :/

As for the DR stuff... well, it's not much. I went and got Talliska her first favor from Tenemlor (because Simu recently added favors to Prydaen gods, boggle). There was a bit of RP involved in it because Talliska had sworn off worshipping the Prydaen tryptich (Eu-Demrris-Tenemlor) for a while, and I wanted to play out her reasons for returning. I've posted the log below.

Tonight's incest theme. o.O

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 11 May 2008 in Family, Friends, Writing, Anime, Logs

So, Kalli wrote me a late birthday present. :O

It's a ficlet! It also so happens to have some yuri in it. ^^ (Winry/Sheska, from Fullmetal Alchemist. Thooough, it also implies some Ed/Al -- yaoi AND incest, whoo -- as it follows the events of her other FMA fic, Agapē.) The dedication she wrote in the beginning is *really* touching, too... I truly appreciated it. Never thought I'd say "YAY my friend gave me yuri as a present." XD

Anyway, all that babble aside, here is the fic: Treading on Dreams. OH and both fics I just linked are FMA-spoily so beware!

Following on the odd and unexpected incest theme is this lil IRC log from a few hours ago that amused me. XD (I'm Mieu, and Minna is my RL sister, just so you understand).

A PSU addendum

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 27 April 2008 in Characters, Fashion, Online Games, Links

I forgot to link this, it's a guide to S-rank Maximum Attack G. Later on, there'll be another area added, the Ruins, which will change the end of the mission. But, for now this is accurate.

And here's Reina's new outfit! Basically, Sega rolled in the PSO outfits and so I built her a new look out of a female hunter and female ranger getup. I can't remember the stupid PSO names so I won't use them. :D Anyway, she's wearing hunter/ranger clothes, and looks pretty badass, both of which are appropriate for a Fighgunner. :D

(Heh, you can also see that I'm running PSU on 1024x768 now, and high end graphics.)

I should stop being distracted by PSU for now though. ^^;

You know you're truly a dork when...

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 21 April 2008 in Relationships, Roleplaying, Fashion, Links

...you're writing high-fashion outfits for characters in a roleplaying game, and you care enough about the fabrics and design that you spend hours upon hours looking up different dresses and types for the right terminology. And I really do mean hours -- of looking at fashion and dress shop pages. Oh hell yeah. I'm going to be such a fashionista I can come up with outfits in seconds without reference! Eventually! *shake fist*

But onto my explanation. My fashion searches for the "Women of Emberdays" (heh!) just now led me to this page: Moiré patterns. Basically a word to describe the pattern of watered silk. I looked at this page and went "o shit! there's EQUATIONS ON THERE!" and Jon gives me this telling look, like, "You are the ULTIMATE DORK!"

I have to admit, once my passion for RP and fashion crossed simultaneously into mathematics, it DOES seem pretty dorky. ^^; But whatever, 'cause he's looking at pages on Warhammer 40K miniatures. (Right now he is apparently chatting on #tower about the virtues of the Tau. XD)

You know, I really think I married the right guy. :D

All nighters and ... stuff... yep, incoherency starting.

By Dark Siren Sally - Posted on 19 April 2008 in Musings, Characters, Video Games, Movies, Links

So I'm more or less finished with Rosalia's sheet [Edit: Fixed this link] -- the non-Abyssal version, anyway. It took SO LONG, though the majority of it was writing her Legends and her harp artifact. I actually love the harp. :D But mechanically, it was hard to figure out rules for. This is one of those moments is where freeform would be better. =_=

Other parts of the sheet I really like: Rosalia's servants, and the bio I wrote for her. :O The Hearthstone is nice -- but I like my idea for her second Hearthstone (which unlike the Stone of Springtime will be from an Underworld Manse) even better.

I pulled an all-nighter to finish all I wrote. Nekira said she loved the sheet, though, and didn't have any immediate issues with it. So, I'm happy.
