Back from going out :O
Today was better for going out, it was cooler (there was some rain). I had some stressful periods but mostly I was all right.
I went to a nice Spanish restaurant. Oh no, I forgot the name already. (Figures!) but I got to have paella again. I *love* paella. It's a dish with saffron rice and usually some chicken or seafood with it. We got paella de marisco, the seafood kind -- it came with a crab claw and a half-lobster, too. Jon's crab claw was so huge he spent half the meal trying to crack it, hehe.
We also got appetizers, mmm. A really tasty seafood pastry, and gazpacho soup. Jon was calling me a dork because I told him the only reason I knew gazpacho soup was cold was because of watching Red Dwarf. I guess it is kind of dorky. ^^;
Out for today~
Gonna spend some much needed time outside. It always seems like such a big event with me. OMG, I actually *GO OUTSIDE!* Le gasp! :P
As I mentioned earlier I want to go buy a hardcopy of BESM 3rd. So I can only hope it's actually there at the store I'm going to check. Imaginaire tends to have a lot of old stuff in stock though! :O I need to write more of the RA RP stuff so I neeeeed this book.
And! We kinda want to get more Alias. I mean. Not kinda, but REALLY want to. The first season is just so spectacular and twisted, with an end that just leaves so many questions that it's hard to NOT want to see more. ^^; The eps we watched in Montreal were 4th season... ish... and I think the series gets watered down a bit by then, but the beginning is just WHOA.
Okay, I really ought to get off my ass and actually *leave* so... yeah. I'll be back tonight (late-ish) P.S. Kalli, hope you feel better soon! ;___;
Monday -- RP, Alias, new game ideas
Monday (yesterday, now) was not so bad, minus the fact I didn't really sleep enough. D: Mostly, I just ran a small Emberdays scene for Milena, which was short and slow (we often are), but fun. I couldn't run a full session because Grey was AWOL, but I'm happy 'cause everyone's in the right spot to come together next week now, AND I have more time to write stuff ahead of time (even maybe gasp, a few partially statted enemies. Dunno!)
I've been letting Kalli play my DR account, so she's been giving me accounts of how well Atma's training up. Before it was Lucylla (my Siren-alike). But I told her "plz train my weaksauce barb" and she was "all over that like flies on shit." XD Awesome. I'm so lazy I get my friend to train my DR charas for me, apparently! So Atmadja's at 14th now and Lucy is... 8th? 9th? Not sure.
Back from Montreal!
So I'm back~
And we've got a lease for an apartment in Montreal. We put in the deposit, and are pretty much guaranteed to get it (apparently the landlady really likes us). We need to send over a few bits of information though, because we forgot to bring some documents. Wah.
Kalli was saying she helped us out by thinking about us getting a nice apartment the whole time. XD Woooo, voodoo powerz.
But it's a nice place. It's within walking distance of my college, a grocery store, pharmacy, hell... plenty of malls and restaurants too. It has a laundry room (mine right now does not. :O) It's on a low floor, which I really wanted -- I preferred having no one living below me so I could DDR to my heart's content. XD It's probably doubly as big as our current apartment.
Emberdays, reinstalling Sims 2.
I ran Emberdays today, because duh, it's Monday!
And I ended up running a lot longer than I thought. Like, 3 hours longer. *boggle* Mainly because I was too pissed/distracted the night before to really work on anything. I'd say more, but the reasons are too personal to say here.
I ended up spending the majority of the time trying to keep up with all my NPCs while writing the descs for all the guests, and then the people at the end: Miral (who for some reason decided to pick on Valeriya, bad NPC!) and Daruban in particular. I was saving Daruban's entrance for last, though I don't know how it will affect things just yet.
I'm tired... really worn out, but I'm installing Sims 2. Slooooow process. I'm on the third expansion as I speak (Nightlife) and have 4 more to go. I also found out I forgot to save my Churasan eps before reformatting the old hard drive. So sad. Those took *forever* to torrent and now they're all gone. :(
I'll write more when I feel coherent enough to write stuff. o.O
Portishead in my Churasan / a rant I may regret.
Jon and I were watching Churasan... I think it was episode 99, or so? Anyway, I totally gawked because there was a scene between Sasaki and Haruka in a bar, and they totally played a Portishead song there ("It Could Be Sweet"). I think I remember being boggled at it before, but it STILL boggles me today! Just seems like a "wtf!" sort of coincidence, since I love both Churasan and Portishead. ^^;;
I was just going to post this at random before trying to get more sleep, but I just peeked onto IRC and saw something pasted on one of the channels I'm in. I feel a little bit betrayed and a LOT angry right now. Saying (even jokingly) that French Canadians aren't really people is a sick, disgustingly bigoted statement. Even if it were not about an ethnic group my husband belongs to, I would STILL think the same way about it. I treat my ENEMIES with more respect than that, or at least I TRY to. And if I fail, I have the dignity to actually feel *sorry* for offending them.
[Edit: I've spoken privately with everyone involved with the aforementioned pasting of IRC log and the offense I took to what was stated there. Everything's been explained in context, and apologies have been exchanged, so I have no hard feelings left. In light of that, the rest of my rant has been removed.]
What an amusing day. :D
So I'm kinda sleep-deprived (sleeping from 9am to 2pm sucks, yep!) but I'm happy!
A few random amusements:
- This scan of a letter on doingitwrong.com makes me very, very sad... for the education system, that is.
- Eni showed me the 100th Mythbusters episode which was apparently a Macgyver special! Jon and I watched it, and I was very, very much entertained. :D :D
- I found this mirror of a very old site of mine that was meant to be a risqué sort of fangirl shrine to my favorite male characters back then. It's on some archive site with sex ads appended to the bottom and the 404 messages now. When I saw it I said "WTF?" (Warning: if you look at the link, this was a page I made something like 9 or 10 years ago, so it's rather embarrassing on my part. :P Also, it's unfinished!) I should probably try getting it removed...
Also, we played Wardragon today, and as usual I lots of fun!
The less serious post of the day (j-drama, cute MMOs)
A couple days ago, I managed to find some jdrama episodes I wanted. Yay! I've been downloading Churasan torrents, and I snagged the first episode of Fuurin Kazan (which was pretty good... I want the rest, but it takes so long to download! ;.;)
Churasan, contrary to my mood most days, is a very uplifting series, with an cheerful, optimistic main character. The supporting characters feel very real with their various fears, expectations and desires. Bad things happen... but Eri pulls through, and it's easy just to want to root for her, even if the odds are against her. ^^; She doesn't always succeed, but she finds a way to look at it in a positive light. And somehow, all around her, people's lives are enriched by her attitude.
It's definitely something to watch to improve your spirits when you're down. When I'm watching, for the 15 minutes of that episode, I'm smiling and I'm relaxed. I wish I could feel like that all the time. :/
Japanese dramas ;.;
I was poking around through wikipedia just now. I forget how I started out, but I was looking through all sorts of sites... from gemstones to flowers, chrysanthemum leading me to a page about Japanese emperors, and thereafter to NHK taiga dramas.
I miss watching those so much. ;.; I was so spoiled living in the Bay Area. Every weekend I could watch jdramas subbed on KTSF, a San Francisco based channel. The taiga dramas were always my favorite (year-long dramas based on Japanese history, huge productions with period sets and costuming and well-known Japanese actors), and I've long been wishing I could get a complete subbed collection of the taiga dramas based on Nobunaga and Hideyoshi.
Yay insomnia! Richard Dean Anderson, Britney Spears.
(I didn't sleep till past noon, and only for 5-6 hours, ish... but yeah... I started this entry then, and am continuing it now!)
I've been sitting here poking half-heartedly at Dragonrealms (Atma is still 4 weapon ranks away from her next circle) and reading celebrity articles again. So odd that I've become interested in that only during this partial and indefinite hiatus I've been on since last month.
First on my list of celebrity stuff I read is this Richard Dean Anderson fansite. That being the actor who portrayed MacGyver as well as a leading role in Stargate SG-1. There's something both heartening and disappointing about reading about the real life of a character you liked. I guess with the character you end up having certain hopes and expectations, and not all of those are fulfilled.
