Writer's block can really suck it. :O

I spent a week in some sort of creative hell trying to kick this severe writer's block I had. I finally dealt with it last night and I feel so much better about that.

In the process of trying to wreck it I read a couple of Ender books back to back (Ender in Exile which I had owned for a while but hadn't had time to read until now, and Speaker for the Dead, one of my favorites of the series). I also started reading Violinist of Hamelin after Selina tried poking me to read the manga for years. Literally years! I've watched the anime (it's actually one of my favorites, despite it having such a low budget half of the scenes were just stills with sound) but this is the first time I went through the entire manga.

Now I'm in this huge reading mode which is awesome. Reading kicks writer's block in the butt! I ended up able to update pretty much all of Outcastes, which is the only game I'm working on right now.

Burn Notice! And another "past few days" recap.

Jon and I are watching Burn Notice. It's a TV series that's part spy-show with action and occasional drama, and part comedy. Oddly, it kind of half reminds me of Macgyver with more spy elements, guns, and sexy chicks in bikinis. :D It's brilliant. Also the main character's inner monologues about what spies should or shouldn't do keeps making me think of Seventeen ALL the time. XD

It is awesome! And made even more awesome because L.E. Modesitt Jr., the author of the Recluce books (one of my all time most favorite fantasy series, if you don't already know) recommended it. Actually, it was 'cause of his review that Jon and I bought the Burn Notice DVDs instead of the Fringe, which is apparently kind of lackluster.

That's disappointing :( Kind of reminds me how Alias ended up disappointing after having such an AMAZING start. (Spoilers coming, if you were actually planning on watching Alias, ever.)

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Terminator 2 was one of my favorite movies since I was a kid. Same with Jon, really.

We recently got a hold of a DVD of the first series of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which follows T2 and actually (conveniently and thankfully) skips over the entirety of T3 with time travel! Ha!

Anyway, we really, really like the series so far. It's more in line with Terminator 1 and 2 than T3 ever was and really breathes new life into the franchise, IMO.

I've read that people think the actress playing Sarah Connor isn't built enough. :P Well, she isn't, but I still think in terms of attitude the woman's got it right. Even more awesome is Cameron, the new Terminator protecting John Connor. I never saw Firefly/Serenity but Cameron's actress is the one playing River Tam. I was amazed that she's actually 27, she TOTALLY does not look it. *boggles!!*

Anyway I just had to add that tidbit before bed, because I'd meant to write about it earlier. Here's hoping we can see the second season soon. :P

Back from going out :O

Today was better for going out, it was cooler (there was some rain). I had some stressful periods but mostly I was all right.

I went to a nice Spanish restaurant. Oh no, I forgot the name already. (Figures!) but I got to have paella again. I *love* paella. It's a dish with saffron rice and usually some chicken or seafood with it. We got paella de marisco, the seafood kind -- it came with a crab claw and a half-lobster, too. Jon's crab claw was so huge he spent half the meal trying to crack it, hehe.

We also got appetizers, mmm. A really tasty seafood pastry, and gazpacho soup. Jon was calling me a dork because I told him the only reason I knew gazpacho soup was cold was because of watching Red Dwarf. I guess it is kind of dorky. ^^;

Out for today~

Gonna spend some much needed time outside. It always seems like such a big event with me. OMG, I actually *GO OUTSIDE!* Le gasp! :P

As I mentioned earlier I want to go buy a hardcopy of BESM 3rd. So I can only hope it's actually there at the store I'm going to check. Imaginaire tends to have a lot of old stuff in stock though! :O I need to write more of the RA RP stuff so I neeeeed this book.

And! We kinda want to get more Alias. I mean. Not kinda, but REALLY want to. The first season is just so spectacular and twisted, with an end that just leaves so many questions that it's hard to NOT want to see more. ^^; The eps we watched in Montreal were 4th season... ish... and I think the series gets watered down a bit by then, but the beginning is just WHOA.

Okay, I really ought to get off my ass and actually *leave* so... yeah. I'll be back tonight (late-ish) P.S. Kalli, hope you feel better soon! ;___;
