Online Games

Whew... my body is all achy and tired. I feel fatigued a lot. It's partially my period and partially having to be used to adjusting my usual habits at home I guess. Ah well, I'll have time to myself in a week or so.

I bought a Zune yesterday (had to stand in crazy line to get it) but it ended up being some sort of broken refurbished version and we exchanged to get a new one. I hope this one works. I mostly wanted a mp3 player so I could have music to listen to while I'm walking alone ('cause sometimes I get anxiety from loud noises, I could drown them out with music.)

I have to say I REALLY HATE earbuds though. They're uncomfortable for me. I suppose it's also because I only have the one that came with the Zune though, and it kind of blows. :P

I wasn't really able to play FFXI at all these past couple days. x.x Just had too much to do the day before yesterday, and then we lost our connection for several hours due to another lameass contractor messing up our cable connection.

I kinda feel bad for Rin since I don't have nearly as much time to put into playing (with all the other activities I do as well, free time or not). FFXI is harder to play solo and I wanted to try to keep up together as a group. Just don't know if I can manage it... especially in the coming weeks with sis over and all that.

Oh, I wanted to mention that the anniversary celebration was actually very nice and relaxing. Thanks to all who gave well wishes! Unfortunately, I'm in a bit of a sour mood lately, and that really put a damper on the good feelings I got from relaxing with husband.

We're going to be away till tomorrow evening-ish.

Going to stay at a hotel for 4th anniversary. (I'm old! o.O) And eat out and all that.

Also, I've been losing weight, I've found. I'm gradually approaching 180. :P But I really need to get back into exercising. In the spring I may lose a great deal if I start that up again. I'm surprised I've still been losing, even if it's only a half a pound a week.

RIN: I couldn't find you at all last night n.n and I kept dying, hehe. So I went and soloed to 12. I probably should try to do quests :P *bad about that* but we should party on Thurs if you want ^^;

Friday is PSU night though, and so is Sat.

FFRPG: I got in! \o/ I'm in the process of creating Bryn for the game now.

Obligatory FF11 update: I trained Talliska in Monk job to 10th. Then switched back to Red Mage. Originally I was going to do White Mage next but Rin said I should wait! I just wanted to leave my options open, since 10th is when we can actually group together. But I'll train RDM to 18th first. (So I can get secondary job.)

I'm going to train both Ninja and Paladin for advanced classes. Not going to mix them together though I don't think. I'm actually going for two different builds I would like to switch between depending on mood: Red Mage / Paladin (MAYBE the reverse, too, only thing is that Paladin doesn't fit my aesthetics for Talli. I'm picky about that. :P But I want /PLD for Auto-Refresh and also better defenses) and Monk / Ninja (I LOVE being a fast fighter. Mmm.)

Ooh ooh. I may be getting into FFRPG on RPoL. The rules are a fan-made Final Fantasy based RPG system, by Returner Games. I'm really looking forward to trying this out. :D The FFRPG project has matured a lot over the past... decade? and now includes material from every game all the way up to FF12: Revenant Wings. :D

AND YES! I am playing a Viera. OF COURSE I am. :D In fact, I'm using Brynja -- though, it's a different Bryn than the one I was going to make for Lumi's story.

FF11 update: I am up to... level 10! Mithra Red Mage. I spent a lot of time playing and chatting with Rin, which was cool. He taught us a bunch of stuff we'd not been aware of and even took us on a quest (which led to a TPK. But we were all only level 8 then.) Apparently he really wishes I was a WHM, but I want to be versatile, and rather like Red. -_^

And here's some of the writing I sent the GM for my FFRPG character (it's set in a custom world named Grayth.)

Hrm. I had originally planned to write some sort of introspective post, but have no idea how to word it. So let's just go for a straight summary.

In the past few days I bought the new Ben Folds album Way to Normal (mini-review at the end of this post), ventured out in the winter cold only twice (for the album and to get groceries) and otherwise mostly sat around a lot. :P I guess winter is just the season for that. I mean, since right now I still don't have school or work.

Oh, and since I didn't write about it before: my bad day a little while back mostly stemmed from me freaking out because I got an email from Concordia saying they required my permanent residency proof before considering my application. As I have a very low trust of the Canadian government in following through with my documentation, I'm now afraid I will get barred from college (along with not being able to get a bank account, or get my passport back.)

So, you can probably see how that could be upsetting for me.

We'll see how long I stick with FF11 :D So far, though, it actually plays somewhat similarly to DR, at least in terms of the way skills are trained... Except there's more classes and the option to mix classes. It's still mostly Final Fantasy-ish though, of course.

The game servers seem pretty quiet most of the time... But that could be 'cause I'm in a noob area. The few people we've met both on Gilgamesh and Siren (when I was trying that... decided to switch to Lumi's server though we've not met there yet) have all been pretty nice though. Generally I have a good impression of the player base so far, but that could be 'cause there aren't any worldwide chat channels to disabuse me of that notion. :P

BTW--I had a really damned crappy second half of yesterday which is why I'm preferring to be alone right now. :/

"Historic" because I haven't canceled DR for YEARS, so it feels all epic. :P It's going to be gone after this month (probably around the 22nd). I won't reactivate again for 6 months to a year. So, that's that. No more having to angst over that game for a while.

It's funny because that game is where my most memorable characters came from. Ryshassa, Atmadja, Talliska and Mellauna in particular. One is my iconic empathic healer, the second her fiery and carefree sister, the third my wild-hearted ranger and survivalist, and the fourth my socialite/bureaucrat/bardess and secret agent. But they've all grown beyond their DR roots... most of them through Exalted, in fact, and then through that to something even greater (Anthegenian Cycle, for some of them).

I'm taking Talli with me to Final Fantasy 11, though. ^^ I just signed up for it! But I'm downloading a monstrous update. *watches it go by...... slowly*

Oh, and my sis IS visiting, from Dec 22 to Jan 2!!

One: I HAS A KALLI BACK yay whee~! (Actually I hope she forgives me cause I was crankybear when she first msged me, but it didn't last long. *laughs* It's hard to be cranky with Kalli!)

Two: Jon and I are like, 99% certain we are going to start playing Final Fantasy 11. We've been wanting a different game, and with him playing FFT and me playing FFTA2, we've totally been hankering for some more Final Fantasy gaming goodness.

We're going to give up Dragonrealms for this. It's just gotta go. I pay a horribly large amount of money for it and don't have the heart to play any more after the last attempt at trying to get involved. :/ I'll just end up feeling guilty playing Talliska, for example, because I really don't want to be bothered with the Order stuff right now, just want to train her. :/

Three: My sis may be visiting this holidays. :O We'll see though. She's still kinda flaky (I told her I'd pour milk on her so she'd stop being flaky, hehe).

And Saturday was really a relaxing day. I didn't really do much of anything... except finally set up my netname on the Concordia site. Man, I can't believe I still have something like 5 months till I'll get a response... I suppose those months will go fast, but still, it seems like forever, still.

I messed with RPoL, as usual... Got to chat with Selina and Grey (he and I don't talk quite enough! and we should :o) and my sis (on Skype, anyway) and I played a bit more PSU (we got Phantom Fissure again, mmmm good drops).

I admit I kinda would like to RP more with Selina and/or Grey again :o I've been telling them about my RPoL games, though I also wouldn't be adverse to some OpenRPG stuff. I wonder if they'd play with Jon and we could have a small fun game. Something that ISN'T all bogged down 'cause of timezone issues, argh. Or they could get into my forum stuff, either way!
